Tick Tick Bang?!?!?!?!?!? WTF?

In the movie GB, what in the fuck was Prince thinking when he had the NPG do that LAMEASS performance of "Tick Tick Bang" out in the street? Did he really think he was gonna win the competition with that turkey? I would rather have seen TC Ellis and Tevin sportin' flowery dresses and singing "Chim-Chimmery" (sp)!

I don't think it was the greatest performance of all time, but you've gotta take the old things with a grain of salt sometimes. Especially when you're seeing an old ass movie for the first time, or hearing an old song in 2004. rolleyes

oh, and keep in mind he was competing against shake. the weakest recorded track on GB, without a doubt.

I love the song! Again it's very bold 4 a male to say those lyrics, it's great! The performance is funny and the dancing is pretty lame!
]

Talking of wtf? How about when prince tries to fight the time ( u know when he challanges them to a battle scene) and hits morris! possibally the lamest punch ever! I love that scene! It's about THE ONLY time u c the whole lineup of the Time and prince in the same scene!

This movie has tons of great moments!

Personally Tevins "Round and round" upstages the movie in performance stakes! Good choreography (obviously not the same bloke who choreographed the messy "Tick, tick bang"), great song! The scene stands out amongst the clutter of the movie in general and it showed at the time great promise 4 Tevin! I heard Prince wanted to write a whole album 4 tevin but Quincey Jones (Tevins executive producer on his albums) said no! Anyway sure the time rule but are not given enough time on stage! "Release it" is cool though!

Prince wrote more tracks 4 Tevin on his second album "I'm ready", anyone heard 'em?

I don't think there's really all that much substane to truly "get" in GB. Unless you mean "getting" annoyed, bored, irritated, constipated, embarrassed, confused, and angry.... lol

I liked the weird choreography of the beaten puppet torture dance that prince does... I think Paula Abdul ghost choreographed some of the stuff in the movie and some of the big dance numbers cut out.... read it somwhere...

I've always liked this song. I think it's underrated.
Totally creative, different from any song I've ever heard.
I thought it was pretty funny how one of the guys was playing a game boy in the background, like there was nothing to see.
Still, despite some good music and a couple of funny moments, there is not much redeemable about Graffiti Bridge.

i'm actually quoting prince on that one. that's what he said regarding negative reviews of GB.

and i agree. it's so visionary, and so far ahead of its time wink

huh. i don't know cuzzin, i watched GB twice this last week, and i'm still not sure what time it's meant for. we're at 14 years now. what, we need another decade? two? aah, forget it, i've been getting the flic lately.

yet HOW CAN YOU SAY SHAKE IS THE WEAKEST? i think we should leave that to Melody Cool.

'member when ol' boy did Shake at the Celebration? now that was Kool! thumbs up!

and Tick Tick Bang? that track is slammin! especially the kid's funky writhing dance moves!

er

Did anyone here know that the drum pattern / feel that Prince got was actually taken directly from a Jimi Hendrix song??? If you listen to the beginning of 'Little Miss Lover' from Jimi's 'Axis - Bold As Love' CD, you'll totally pick out that Prince copied the drums. Not just a little, but to the point where is actually sounds like Prince sampled the drums tracks. Check it out - excellent Jimi tune... then again, not bad Prince tune either... smile

I loved Tick, Tick, Bang. And this is not a movie to take seriously because after the first ten minutes you realize its a 90 minute music video. Though you have to admit, he learned from this attempt when making the 3 Chains O' Gold video.

But yeah, that performance is frighteningly weak and ... I don't know, the whole Grafitti Bridge project just seemed off.
