Prince's greatest 90s album...

Ok folks, what do yo think? I've picked five and marked them from 10 for his best and 1 for his fifth best... What do the orgers reckon!? Anything from Graffitti Bridge to Rave can be chosen but neither of the Hits compilations.

Crystal Ball 10
Emancipation 6
The Gold Experience 4
Come 2
Diamonds and Pearls 1

Step right up.....

confuse in at least two ways!

Anyway, my vote goes for The Truth.

TGE, Crystal Ball, Come, Chaos & Disorder, Diamonds & Pearls and prince are all up there just behind.

I know some people aren't going to like this, but Diamonds & Pearls and The Gold Experience are about equal to me. Gold has much more of an edge to it and a lot less Tony M so it could be considered better.

The Gold Experience, hands down, is the best from the 90's, and I think one of his best period.

After Gold, I'd say:

2. Grafitti Bridge
3. Emancipation
4. Diamonds and Pearls
5. prince

The Gold Experience
Exodus (ok so its NPG)
Chaos & Disorder
Emancipation

I thought D&P was pretty good, and yes Tony M kinda ruined it (except I still like his rap on Willing & Able)...but Symbol (as I have stated MANY times before) was so bad I stopped listening to Prince for awhile. Too much Tony, no Rosie, too fake hip hop. The thing just sucked so much.

yup, yup! In fact, this is my favorite album - period.
TGE is, also, a great one...

Overall, I don't think his 90's output is any worse than his 80's at all.

90's albums:

Graffiti Bridge - 7
Diamonds and Pearls - 8
Symbol - 8
Come - 8
Gold Experience - 9
Chaos and Disorder - 6
Emancipation - 9
Crystal Ball - 8
The Truth - 9
Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic - 7

NOt a bad decade - bookended by some dodgy albums, but considering all the shit going on in that decade there is some quality work there - especially the highs of TGE, Emancipation and The Truth.

And if you don't believe me about Emancipation, dig it out and have a listen - it is better than people round here give it credit for.

I thought I was the only one who liked that rap in Willing and Able. I'm glad I have some company. However, I do like the symbol aIlbum. Minus some of the rap, it's great, especially the ballads.

Still, the TGE get's my vote for best of the 90's and like it's been said, one of his best of all time.

Next comes Emacipation, O+>, The Truth, and Diamonds and Pearls. Still, that order may change depending on my mood.

TGE is my fav album of the 90's, and I consider it to be one of his top 5 albums of all time.

Second would be Emancipation, then prince, then Rave.

You know, thinking about all the great songs he made in the 90's, I think it goes to show that though his actual 90's albums were more flawed than his 80's ones, the songs he made in the 90's were just as amazing.

Graffiti Bridge - 4
Diamonds and Pearls - 5
Symbol - 4
Come - 8
Gold Experience - 7
Chaos and Disorder - 2
Emancipation - 5.5
Crystal Ball - 4
The Truth - 2
Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic - 3

With the exception of Come quite a poor decade for albums.... but then again Prince have always been and will always be patchy....
E.G Grafitti Bridge has 3 grade A songs on it but the rest are by and large simply dreadful... so the ratings r 4 the album as a whole....

imo, if you removed all the other srtists from GB, then that would have been the greatest Prince album of all time. and the 90s.
