Imagine the 'Dirty Mind' Prince debuting today!!

I just got through watching the 2 Dirty mind DVDs [the Ritz and Paris] and am staggered at how original he was and at such a young age. You know people , rightly , talk about the impact that the White Stripes have made but damn it just doesn't compare to these performances. Now imagine if that mucky little pup made his debut today!. I bet he would be a superstar. There just is no one around today that comes close for talent, shock value and originality. What also strikes me is the obvious influence of Rod Stewart and Mick Jagger during this point in his career. Ha, wonder what the Prince of Today would say to the Prince of 1980!.

If the dirty mind era Prince came out today, he would definately generate a lot of controversy. Eminem type controversy...but then, Em's controversy reminds me of Prince's controversial days anyway, so...shrug

I honestly think he would get overlooked, people are getting very tired of that shiznit. Yeah, he is talented as far as writing, producing, etc. unlike most acts today but it just doesn't sell. Example, can someone tell me what Janet Jackson's new album is doing on the charts or radio.....I can.....uh, dropping faster than MJ's house guests "drawers".

I don't know what he would say to his old self besides, "Put some pants on!" But I think it would be a cool video. The Prince of today schooling the old Prince in the art of Musicology. Kinda like the old Michael Jordan vs. young Michael Jordan TV commercial. Prince still looks young enough to pull it off.

I know that it would off the hook and people wouldn't be sleeping on it.
