Thanks, laylow i enjoyed reading every bit...i think most of these idiot so called fans are just that...how could you NOT study what the f@ck Prince has been writing about and not come away some deeper meaning. Has anybody considered that perhaps he saw this alchemy symbol and noticed its already similar appearance to a symbol he has been attached to for years (the very basic combination of the male and female symbols, w/o the "horn"), but it has a flair to it. Frankly, I think it looks pretty cool. In fact, I think a lot of those alchemy symbols look pretty cool and I am currently looking for a brand (like a cattle brand...it's a redneck thing....) perhaps I'll look a little harder at some of those symbols.....would they have any deeper meaning? No, they just would look cool. Then again, maybe it would make me more mysterious..... | |

I must say that the soapstone symbol is definitely the bottom portion of the symbol he changed his name to. All he did was add a circle to the top of it.
Yes, a friend and myself used to always search for the mysticism of Prince back in the day. I never thought it'd be back again. But now I feel that Prince will have to answer for that. Props to you for doing your research. I also dug into this way back when the Symbol album first came out and I started noticing things. I brought it up in AMP and got some good response. It would be cool if Prince would ever answer some of these questions -- some of which he obviously knows. The O+> symbol (without the soapstone "horn") was also found in some ancient Egyptian runes and can be found in some books on masonic symbolism and mysticism. I'm not saying Prince knew about all that when he first used it -- I believe it is as most people think -- he originally meant it as the intercourse of man & woman = sex. But are we to believe that Prince has continued to be naive and innocent about this matter throughout the years? Baphomet, shape-shifting, magick, and other things. I doubt he'll ever say. | |

I think that P's music and actions are being over-analyzed, I never considered his music to be satanic, especially since he became a JW. Reading this stuff freaked me out but I choose not to believe it. I'll believe it when I hear it out of P's own mouth. Music is open to interpretation. The only thing that matters is the feelings and emotions that P's music evokes in us. Music is the soundtrack to our lives.....don't kill it by misinterpreting and over analyzing

Symbols are full of power because of the associations contained within them going back thousands of years. I would NEVER mess with them myself. I've known people in the know and have experienced some of these things myself -- it's best to not touch the unclean things. | |

Well, you're trying to find something bad in everything about Prince. You can study the career of Pat Boone, and probably find just as many "alarming" symbols. The symbol he used to get out of his record contract with WB clearly was the male/female symbol. Regardless of the origin of the symbol, this totally fits in with his persona. The Rainbow Children CD is just a picture that fits in with the rest of the artwork. There's not a circle or horns sticking out of Prince's head. The bottom line is, if it bothers you, than don't listen to Prince. I'm a Christian, and I've prayed about whether or not to listen to "secular" music, and I came to the conclusion, through prayer, that I should enjoy it for what it is: music. I believe God put music on the earth to enjoy it, just like trees and sunshine. I also know that Prince has often referred to Jesus Christ in his music many times, and not in a negative way. I remember him telling the crowd at the Hit & Run show I went to a couple of years ago, "People, Jesus is the answer. Always has been." There is no way that someone who was a pagan would ever say that. I mean, think about it. Evil forces are afraid of that name. Why would they say it? In conclusion, I don't like the fact that Prince is a full blown Jehovah's Witness now, but whatever Prince or any other rock star, actor, or famous person, believes or does in their life is going to sway my faith in Jesus Christ, and honestly, it shouldn't sway yours. | |

I don't think it's so much as "over-analyzing" as it is raising a red flag. The spiritually aware know when he is saying something blasphemous or the opposite of the truth. And ever since he has become a JW, it has raised a humongous red flag. He is sneaking in religious and man-made propaganda everywhere... his music, interviews, yet no one says anything to him and he pretty much has complete freedom to say what he wants, when he wants. If one person believes him, he may win another soul, but for which side? As we grow older everyday, we are getting closer and closer to our eternal destination.
