princeaholoics anonymous uh...hello...my name's OpheliaT and I'm a princeaholic. I've been a fan for about 14 years, since I was a young girl, and have been able to lead a normal life. But the turning point was when I finally got to see him live in April. Two shows in five days. Things haven't been the same. It's effecting my relationships with other artists and bands. I haven't been able to listen to anyone but Prince since my two day "affair". It's become an obsession with all things Prince. It's even brought me here. (long time "listener" first time poster.) I guess the first step is admitting I have a problem. What's the next step?

Ophelia, you are suffering from PPCD (Post-Prince Concert Disorder).
Two good things about this disorder: 1) It hurts so good. 2) The symptoms you describe don't last forever. Personally, I like the "afterglow" And you are by no means a dork I'm firmly planted in denial

Ophelia, I am sooo glad there's someone out there just like me. I've seen Prince twice within the last 3 years. After each show, I am like an obsessed woman! I listen to him constantly and my friends and family get so sick of hearing about Prince I think they would like to lock me in a room for a few weeks after I see him. I don't know what it is about Prince, but that man puts on one hell of a show. I think seeing him live is the next best thing to having sex with him! Keep up that high, and don't listen to what other people say about him. Prince Rocks!!!!!

As much as I hate to admit it, I have to co-sign. There's something about his perfromances. Back in 88, when I went to the Lovesexy tour, afterwards I was obsessed. I was about 14 -15 years old, and at the concert I got the tour book. In that tour book there was some long mystical reference to the Black Album (the whole Camille-Spooky Electric thing)-I didn't know what the hell Prince was talking about, but I read all kinds of stuff into it, and I was convinced that Prince was totally mystical (give me a break, I was 14 ). His pictures in that tourbook were "the bomb," and I used to just stare at them and listen to Prince music for weeks after the concert, and I thought he was the most beautiful man on the planet, and I hoped I didn't get much taller so I wouldn't one day be taller than him. (Then how could I marry him? -that whole thing didn't work out, I am about 5'8"). I was a nut for sure. I think it was those adolescent hormones. As a grown woman, I just listen to lots of Prince music following a concert. Lots. But nothing crazy like when I was 14. S Filthy cute and baby U know it

Just the other day i was silently freaking out cos i still can't belive that i saw him in person. However, i have learnt 2 not mention such attacks 2 other nonP fans cos i think if i make 1 more mention of him 2 ne of the unenlightened, I'll b committed... (We need a name 4 non-P fans like in Harry Potter they call non-wizards 'Muggles'...I call them the un-enlightened) e.knuf

It's hard to give you an advice...I know the feeling...I have been a Prince fan for a longer time...I divorced him for some time, but it's hard to stay a way...he sure is addictive! Keep loving him, but live your life first...don't let him stay between your relationships...it's sad to say, but I don't think he cares for how we feel for him...he is a star and has his own business to take care. Take care, Luli

It's funny, I wonder if he knew women(AND men!) would feel "lovesick" when he started writing all these great songs.....that's what I would compare it to, lovesickness. When I first started really listening...it was 94 when "Most Beaut Girl" came out, I asked all my friends for their cd's, so I could decide what I really thought of his work, and EACH person, apx 5-6 male & female, all said the same thing:"Prince, you either love him or hate him, and once you've been stung, no one else will have quite the same effect. Princaholism! That's funny. But I still need my Joni fix...Stevie Wonder fix...and others too. Good music is just that...good music! Prince is not alone in the creation of it, but he IS distinctive.
