RATINGS AND HONESTY Well I have to stand up to this one BIG TIME
It's been long under cover that the Billboard systems of so called LABEL representations have needed an AUDIT for ages. Perks of RECORD LABELS and mishandled Monies to BID for TOP RATING spots on all kinds of charts have been OVERLOOKED. Prince;however, is doing the right thing... The RECORD COUNT is... as it STANDS high on the HONEST CHARTS.. Most ARTISTS would NEVER EVEN DARE to... give a CD at a venue they rather have you just REMEMBER the performance and thats it... WITH PRINCE he went beyond and gave a CD with his CONCERT (a real ARTIST) comes up with "GIVING" not taking. As for the so called BILLBOARD and other CHARTS I have to completely ... go against them for not telling the WHOLE TRUTH to their SO CALLED SYSTEM OF HONEST CHARTING. I have in the past had numerous conversations with people IN the business who know very well that RATINGS are oft PAID with PERKS from LABELS. (mayB I just opened a CAN OF WHOOP ASH) mayb its needed. Prince's RECORD SALES ARE MORE THAN A CHART... for once ... the charts are BEATEN and they don't know how to handle it... WELL HANDLE THIS "U mongrol CHART Rating INDUSTRY SHARK INFESTED SHADOWS" the shades are comin up on you too, cuz we the PEOPLE WANT HONESTY in the Business... SO GET TO IT... amen. Suggesting that the chart practices you describe are 'under cover' is both laughable and naive in the extreme. (BTW, saying "amen" to your own opinions is like laughing at your own jokes when no-one else finds them funny.) . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift. |

In order to say what is said in the first place "one" must have been in the industry "behind the scenes for a very mighty long time" to know what is TRULY GOING ON... laughing at a system which is CUT THROAT is not kind...rewind your mind.

I know it for what it is. I haven't been behind the scenes for 'a very mighty long time'. There's no need. I learned about its corrupt behaviour within three to six months of overseeing the financial practices of several well-known music labels and associated businesses. But most of what I learned simply described in detail what has been said in general about record company malpractice year on year for the past half century or so. . I know what goes on in the music industry,
and while I applaud Prince for giving his music away direct to the public at his concerts, I don't agree with these promo CD's being counted as 'sales' and being chart eligible. I'm all for 'righting the wrong', but at the end of the day... two wrongs don't make a right. | |
