with the musicology single being cancelled...... isn't it time for the record company's to put an end to the tiny market that is singles bought at record shops and for billboard and the uk chart to go over to a official download and airplay singles chart.
... ...i think this would have many benifits for record companys and consumers and music artists. ...the singles market as we have know it is dead and i am surprized it hasn't happened already. i haven't bought a single in 10 years and i would imagine most of you would not have either so what's the hold-up?

i just bought a copy of the single for al green's "i can't stop" about a month ago. coulda sworn they (or someone else, hell if i know--i don't pay attention to the charts) already have a chart listing for downloads and whatever else.

yes but make the official top 100 a download and airplay chart, it will happen at some point in the future so why wait, people can still go in to a shop and get a cd version of a single if thats what they want. play the £1 or $2 and a cd burner burns the single there for them to take out the shop. saves a lot of hassle and saves everyone money

like hell the record industry would have that happen...they want folks to buy full-length cds, shitty fillers and all. they need that money.
