IF there is FEW things you wish Prince would stop doing or change?? Lets Give him some Advice

You know I love prince's career.. but there is a couple things I would love for him to do..

* Release LIVE Albums:)smile

* Don't "Over Produce" your albums ( I think "some" of the 1990's albums were over produce, I like some of the songs like that.. but put some straight songs out ..kinda like "The Vault old friends 4 sale" ) Strip your sound down for SOME albums or songs..

**** The ONLY thing I think Prince is BAD AT is..

Picking first "singles" to promote albums.. It seems like he picks the "R & B" Vibe to cater to his 38 - 44 year old crowd??? IF you pick the worng first single it WILL "kill" your heat for the album.

Emancipation: "Betch by gollie wow"?? sad
* I would have picked : "Somebody's somebody" or "the love we make" smile

New Power Soul : "The One"?? sad
* I would have picked : "Mad Sex" or "come on" smile

Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic : " Greatest romance" ?? sad (w/ r&b video?)
* I would have picked : "baby knows" or "so far so pleased" smile

I would LOVE to hear ALL of your ideas & views on this subject!! Don't be an "ass kisser" or "one of his people".. TELL THE TRUTH!!

Phunk

I wish Prince would just fuckin´ jam out a song for 20-25 minutes in concert like he used to back in the day with Purple Rain for example. It kills me to see the brother cut his classics down to 2 minutes so he can fit 50 of them in one show. Please Prince, show the world who the funkiest muthafucka is on this planet!!!!

Ain´t no party till the PHUNK has arrived!!!!
Whatever it is, it´s got to be PHUNKy!!!

Yeah, I agree 2 minutes for each song sucks, but I wouldn;t want to see him playing a song for 25 minutes. I wish he would do a tour like the Nude Tour, just complete songs.
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 6, 6...

Yeah the mix-tape/medley approach sucks. Kinda why I'm on the fence for this tour. I know it says he'll be jamming in a new way, but I'm afraid it'll be a bunch of quickies when it comes to the "classics"

Please Prince no more jehova cultish propaganda like the santa/ satan letter, don't forget you have fans from differents background (black, asian, whites, arabs, catholics, jewish, etc etc...)

Calling Jehovah's Witnesses 'cultish' is worse than the so-called 'exclusionary' religious attitude you are complaining about. If you are asking Prince to respect your beliefs perhaps you'd like to respect his. You also might like to respect the beliefs of the 6 million plus Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide today.

Genuine art is genuine expression and I do not think we have the right to command Prince to express himself in a certain way. Prince expresses what is in his heart and his music reflects his LIFE. We have no right to dictate his life, so we have no right to dictate his music.

1. He mustpart ways with Larry "The Scam Man" Graham, who has been a poor influence on him for years now.

2. He needs to leave the Jehova's and go back to having his own spirituality.

3. He needs to get back to his pop/rock/funk roots. This R&B/soul/jazz shit will never make him popular again.

4. He should have a multi gender, multi ethnic band like he used to. People like to see that.

5. He'd be better off concentrating on his art, instead of concerning himself with how much money he's gonna make from it.

6. Prince should quit being a dick head.

yes his single choices are very bad: where has been "A Question of U"; should have been the first single of Grafitti Bridge....

"I love u but i dont trust u anymore.." for Rave

Just to mention 2...the singles should spread the word that we talk with an exceptional artist. The singles did the opposite....keep it mainstream..killing...if people want to eat junkfood they wont visit a 1star Michellin restaurant. So dont try to sell mainstream please.

as for picking R&B songs for singles---guess what? Prince is primarily an R&B artist. He knows how fickle the rock market is and he knows that he can get more support in the long run from the R&B crowd because they think highly of him. (NOT the "contemporary R&B" crowd---the mid 20-somethings and up) Its his R&B songs that made him rich.
As for advice. Why bother? Prince does what he wants to and the advice I would give is something he probably wouldn't do: let other people handle his BUSINESS and focus on music. Personally, I don't necessarily want a "stripped down" CD because that's not the material I like from him. Keep the synth-laden grooves and go back to kickin' the funk like the old days. That pop-rock material (so far so pleased, dolphin, etc.) is weak and back in the day, Prince wouldn't be caught dead playing that crap. Simple. Make it FUNKY and driving. Funk/rock. Deliver like U2 does to their crowd and Kiss does to their crowd and you will get the same support. Many artists such as the Isley Bros. have continued to make CDs, but they still figure out a way to play the classics, jam out on 'em, throw in some newer stuff, and drop a good show. All this consistant changing from style to style and flopping at it drags down Prince's rep. We know what he is capable of. Facts are facts. Sales show that Prince as a jazz artist and Prince as a "contemporary R&B artist" don't fly well with the record-buying public OR a great deal of his fans for that matter. If he would just do what he does best, it would be great. As far as the medleys go, I understand. The man has so many hits, people would complain and complain if he left some out. A better balance of medleys and jams would work well. The "Scam Of The Year" tour showed that the medley thing is definately NOT the way to go, but I wouldn't want to hear a 28 minute version of "Everlasting Now" either. Longer medleys and a few jams would be cool. If the rest of you want a scaled down band, you'd better not be complaining when the keyboard players are playing horn parts, etc. Don't expect miracles to happen WITHOUT technology coming into play.

I just wish he would stop censoring old stuff, fair enough to no longer cuss, but leave the past alone. If it has to be censored, then don't release it.

Firstly, quite performing tired greatest hit shows. Okay I appreciate that people who see him for a good night out want to see the hits, but it isn't fair on his REAL fans, people who are willing to see him more than once. We want to see some of the new stuff (preferably not TRC). But there's so much great nineties material which to the best of my knowledge has never been performed live. I want to see Circle of Amour, In This Bed I Scream (oh, the very thought...), The Greatest Romance, Crystal Ball, The Love We Make, I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore, Soul Sanctuary, Wherever U Go Whatever U Do, Billy Jack Bitch, Gold...

I also wish that Prince would recognise that he has a fanbase outside of the US. I'm a relatively new fan (since 98) and I really want to see him come to England... I'd be in the front row baby!

Over 6 million baptised and active members. An attendance of over 15 million worldwide for their 'Commemoration of Christ' observance. Quite a large 'sect' don't you think?

The French media obviously has an agenda.

NO MORE CENSORING OF OLD SONGS! And if he insists on doing this, then he should at least be consistent with the censorhip. Don't release My Medallion and then a few months later censor the word Bitch in an Ahdio Show! And also it would be nice to have more upbeat funky songs released.

things to change: just keep shedding the old personality, my brother. Out with the old and in with the new. Believe me, you're not alone because we're all doing it a little at a time every day. (Eph 4:22-24)

1) SIGN A LONG-TERM DISTRIBUTION DEAL--- Instead of hopping from one label to the next, why not sign a 6-album DISTRIBUTION deal with a major company? Yeah,I know he would have to bury his pride to do this, but look at the benefits. There will finally be a warm, comfortable "home" for his new albums. He could go back to releasing one killer album a year, like in the old days. The deal could be worked out to his liking (he could own the masters, but should realistically expect the company to get a small share too).

2) HIRE A MANAGER!--- Prince needs a skilled, dedicated manager, but not a "yes-man" like most of his employees appear to be. He needs a strong, opinionated manager who is NOT afraid to challenge Prince's ideas, and offer crucial input and advice.

3) CONCENTRATE ON THE MUSIC---In recent years,Prince has been WAY too concerned with the "business" side of the music industry.I'd rather he put all his energies into making great music, and let his manager and record company deal with everything else. With a satisfactory,long-term distribution deal and a smart manager on his side,he can't lose!

4) FOCUS!---I hate to say this, but ever since Prince left Warners, his career has no structure or focus.Nowadays,he may release a song here,a song there, and maybe a new album this year,or maybe not.It all becomes confusing and hard to keep up.I'm not even sure HE knows what he wants to do anymore. It may be time to re-evaluate things, and plan a new strategy.Instead of a chaotic, messy career,I'd like to see him get his "house in order" for once.

5) MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS---As I've said many times before,Prince has a real knack for composing movie soundtracks. Why not explore this direction even more? He seems to have given up after 'Girl 6'.Madonna is getting ready to do the theme song for the next James Bond film.Wouldn't it be cool to see Prince scoring the music for another summer blockbuster?

6) VIDEOS---A few of y'all already mentioned this, and I agree with you.Prince REALLY needs to start making some great videos again. When he completes an album,he should immediately film videos for the songs which will become singles. But,the thing is,the videos should be HOT!! Hire a skilled director and choreographer and get up there and do your thing.Very few artists can dance as well as Prince, but he just needs to show it off to the world again.

7) PICK THE RIGHT SINGLES--- Releasing a soulful ballad as a first single just doesn't work for Prince anymore. He needs to release a loud, kickass CLUB track as the first single.Get the world dancing again! Release a slammin' dance track, let it simmer in the clubs for a few months, and then knock 'em dead with an equally vicious follow-up single!!

8) STOP BEING SO "ANTI-MUSIC BUSINESS"---Prince has to realize that,if he is to be successful again,he must not burn EVERY damn bridge there is! He must make peace with MTV if he wants them to show his videos. He must embrace radio again,if he wants his songs to get heard. He must stop dissing the big record companies, because THEY are the ones who can expose his songs to a wider audience.Like I said,he would have to bury his pride a bit,but the end results could be amazing!

9) GET RID OF THE "NPG" NAME---This concept is old and tired. It's time for him to retire that name, and come up with a new one.

10) REMASTER THE OLD ALBUMS---It's a crying shame that, after all these years,we STILL have to listen to CDs with poor-quality sound! Everyone from Madonna to Michael Jackson have had their old albums re-mastered with better sound, bonus tracks and rare photos.Prince's catalog deserves better, and if it means kissing and making up with
Warners, then so be it! Prince needs to forget about that silly feud, work with them on this, and he could have damn near ALL his old albums re-mastered and in stores by Christmas.

Before the flames begin,I want y'all to ask yourselves,"What if Prince did these 10 things that I suggested? Don't you agree that his career will FINALLY go to the next level??"

Gawd, please don't be so anti-social. It's alluring at first, then charming, then intriguing, but eventually it becomes annoying. Ah but, in the grand scheme of things, I really don't care. I love Prince, except the boots, those shoes have to go. Don't worry about your height my man, you make up for it in the hoohah department...or so I've heard.

I think the boots should be even higher!

Seriously, I think Prince should:

1. Drop the NPG name as some one already said
2. Stop cutting his hair
3. Remember how every album in the 80's had Prince sportting a new look? I miss that a lot.
4. Strip the music down
5. Go back to releasing an album a year. Pick a decent single off the album so it sells. Include a B-side on the sinle. Do a video for the single.
6. Get rid of fuckin' Larry Graham
