I think I saw him on a Pringles commercial once, popping some chips out of that sleeping bag on his head.

At least on his radio show, he is truthful about supporting real hip hop( in sort of a snobbish elitist way ), plus he will hold a M C accountable for their freestyle skills. I guess MTV and the corp. suits stifle his true feelings. Jeux Sans Frontiers

u said it..I have always thought the same thing..how hard is he tryin' to be "urban"???I'm jus' an ol' country boi from south Ga...and it's clear to me how un-"urban" Sway is...so, so phony....as u so clearly stated...so CHEEZEEEE!!! He also comes across to me as a little too aloof.....c'mon Sway...jus' cause u talk to the artists...u aint one...

If you read his interview on MTV, he gives a preface where he talks about how he has interviewed lots of famous folks and never really been nervous...But he said Prince turned him into school girl fan mode. Being nervous he said he started fumbling for questions that were not previously discussed and apparently they weren't well recieved. Personally, I watched BET and their interviewer was much better from what I hear.

I guess MTV and the corp. suits stifle his true feelings. Don't doubt that. I heard his show last time I was in the city. But he plays himself by wearing his realness on his sleeve for the edification of the suburbanites. Case in point: when he asked Prince whether he wanted to tell the media "don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years," I was through. His problem is that he needs to stifle his own urges to prove his "realness" to the masses. Until then, he's cornball. Mos Def comin' out dancin' in a yellow superman outfit and actin' a fool on Chappelle's Show is realer than Sway on his best day on MTV. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Sway has always been corny, at least on MTV. He speaks likes he's reading or at least he doesn't know how to read out loud with flow

and???? so what if he comes off as corny. he has a lot more respect in the industry than most people on mtv. that is how mtv got turned onto him in the first place. the cat has been around for a long time. and simply because he might not "sound urban" to some of you. he knows what is goin on. i just wish he'd get rid of those damned head wraps.

I am expressing an opinion. If you disagree, that's cool, to-may-to/to-mah-to, and so on. The crux of the problem is that, his industry rep notwithstanding, he tries too hard to "sound urban" (to use your phrase) to the masses and plays himself in the process. The fact that he does have a modicum of respect in the industry makes it only more annoying. Just be your durn self and wear your cred lightly.
