are you kidding? its the best song on the album and the one most likely to be a hit on top 40

my advice give the song 1 more chance but this time blast it as loud as you can..and if u still don't like it.. then u probably never will
Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3

I'm really digging this tune. Love the way he sings it. It sounds so different to the soundcheck version I'd previously heard.

Well, whatever floats your boat I guess.
Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

maybe: "Hm, there isn´t a dance-track on the album yet. Well, I´m gonna write one in five minutes. Candy, would you come over here for a minute, please?"

And Musicology is a ballad or something? Granted...I first heard it and half listened to it because I didn't want to be disappointed (like you do with a longtime faded away lover or friend)...then I happened across Sexy MF...and I tell ya: Prince plays music that lets u do some THANGS wit' yo booty. Like JB.

Musicology's lyrics? soso...but I dance and dance to it.

Life of the Party...sounds like one of those early to mid 90s songs that kinda sucked. So compared to them it's cool...plus he finally got the reggae wind ya body beat down. Now he really is God to me 4 real. Cuz other forays into reggae were laughable. And though this is only a couple bars, he did it! My MAN!

LOTP is the worst track on Musicology. I seriously doubt that song would hit th Top 40 charts.

NO NO NO. You folks have it all wrong.

The *real* problem with Musicology is simple, and glaringly apparent.

Ready for it?

The real problem with Musicology is... you can't please everyone.

I like it. So sue me.

I wonder what would happen around here if he released it as a single? There'd be an outcry! That or it would suddenly start growing on people. It's not that far fetched a notion, after all, he does include it in his live set, so HE obviously thinks it's good!

well with all the posts there have been about it and the love/hate relationship people seem to have with it...don't those things usually add up to a hit? lol i bet if the org was around like it is now when Kiss or When Doves Cry was 1st released i bet people might have had the same reaction's to them ...now i'm not putting this song in the same league as those 2 but sometimes you just never know what will become a hit

THAT'S the problem! It is very good live, but that didn't translate onto
CD (we used to say wax lol). The beginning of the song is horrible, I can't
even listen to it...it does pick up towards the middle, but I can't get past the
beginning. Easily the worst track on Musicology.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

This is easiest the worst song since Jughead. I have burned another copy of Musicology without "Life O The Party" so I don't have to keep skipping over it.

I can honestly say, I've never seen a Prince album with such a varied reaction on the individual songs. With albums like TRC, folks either loved or hated the whole thing. This disc is really getting all sorts of reactions on each track. Some folks site "Cinnamon Girl" or "A Million Days" as the weakest track. To me, WDWM2D? is the worst song, but so many people love it! Its crazy, but its kinda cool.

As for my thoughts on "Life O' The Party", at first I didn't care for it, but the more I listen the more I like it. Its almost worth the whole thing for the "...all U Purple hippies bang yo heads on the one" bit.

I think this really is quite good, i think the worse song on the album, and from prince in years is "What do U want me 2 do?" this song is so weak.

I agree LOTP is the albums weakest track, along with ICPC. Those tracks sound very "forced" and other than the last 45 seconds or so of ICPC arn't funky at all. Funny thing to me are prince fans who tell me LOTP is jammin and Usher's "Yeah" is crap. Let's get real here.
