P's songs sung or sampled by other after Prince??

I do not have much info about songs released by Prince and after him sampled or sung by other people...

Ginuwine- When doves cry (Nothing personal, but I don't like this version)
TLC- If I was your... (Nothing new, just like if T-Boss were Prince again)
LeeAnn Rimes- Purple Rain (??)

Prince doesn't let ANYONE sample his stuff as far as I know....and he NEVER lets his songs be on movie soundtracks.

Miserly bastard.

it's been a long time since I heard it but I think the P E song that had a P rince sample was 'welcome to the terrordome' although I could be off on that .
I also believe that Arrested Development sampled Prince saying the word "
'Tennasee' from the song' Alphabet Street' for one of their songs.

2Pac sampled Prince a BUNCH of times. He sampled 777-9311 for "What's Your Phone #", Pop Life for "Pac's Life", and If I Was Your Girlfriend for "Thugs Get Lonley Too".

Also, Jay-Z's 03' Bonnie and Clyde sampled "If I Was Your Girlfriend", sung by Beyonce. I wonder why her cleared this one, could it be because he wants 2 boff Beyonce?

Also, on Digital Underground has sampled "She's Always in My Hair", and "Sexuality for "Sex Packets", and "Dowhatchulike" respectively.

BTW, the song the Public Enemy song that has the Prince sample is "Brother's Gonna Work it Out"

Prince songs have been sampled by many artists over the years.

A search on the ASCAP database or on the Library of Congress or British Library catalogues provides many examples where Prince is credited as having songwriting input because a sample of one of his songs has been used.

DMSR was in "Risky Business"

Gett Off was in "The Last Boy Scout"

319 and Ripopgodazippa were in "Showgirls"

That's all I can think of for soundtracks (not counting Girl 6 or his own movies).

'Good Love' from "Bright Lights, Big City".

As for more samples...

'Bad Young Brother' by Derek B (samples 'Sign O' The Times');
'Sexy Dancer' by 7 Hurtz featuring Peaches and Bitch Lap-Lap (samples 'Sexy Dancer')
'Reality Used To Be A Friend Of Mine' by P.M. Dawn (samples the line "I wonder which tune she dances to?", from the Under The Cherry Moon movie).

Someone earlier on this post said that Prince never lets anyone sample his stuff....that's just wrong. As a matter of fact, a few years ago Prince was selling a box set...seven or eight cd's worth of samples to be used by anyone. I have not seen this lately, but it was on the NPG website in either 99 or 2000. Don't try to tell me I'm wrong because I almost bought the set. But the pricetag was a little too steep for me....$899.00. When I look back on it, I wish I had bought it because he obviously does not offer it anymore.....oh well

ok
Going old school rap fella named KWAME sample the hell out of Prince in 1990 with his song "Skinny Muva" he sampled "Bob George"

Jay-Z and Beyonce in "Bonnie and Clyde" Beyonce pretty much sings and entire verse of "If I Was Your Girlfriend"

Prince must of had a thing for stripper flicks cause he did let Demi Moore dance to "If I Was your Girl..." in "Striptease"

Pretty Woman had Julia Roberts singing "Kiss" when she was in the bath tub

I still say Britney Spears ripped "Nasty Girls" for "Slave for U"

Digital Underground sample Prince in "DoWhatChaLIke" 1990 "Sex Packets" LP

Please Ike... Don't get mad - it's only a candy bar.

Anyway... Didn't Richard Hell recently sample 'Bob George'?

If we're talking about rip-offs too...

'Something About Us' by Daft Punk is a rip-off of 'The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker'
'Faith' by George Michael is a rip-off of 'When You Were Mine'

Then there's the blatant nods like that Basement Jaxx and Meshell NdegéOcello song. Its basically 'All The Critics Love U In New York'.

No one has mentioned the current version of Darlin Nikki that is out now. Also wasn't there a Spike Lee movie recently with an unreleased p song on it?
