The Band: Would you rather be in the Revolution or the NPG? Would you rather be a part of the beginning when Prince was at his "creative peak", or now, with the RRHOF and his more recent jazz-tinged music? I think it's more challenging to be in the NPG because of the reworking of so many of his songs. you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

I'd be in the Revolution any day just for a shot at the Parade tour and being on the Dream Factory album.

I'd rather be in the Revolution . . . I'd rather be part of one of the most well-known albums (Purple Rain) than be part of several subpar, obscure releases . . .
Meaning, I'd rather go out in a blaze of glory than keep retreading old ground . . .

The Revolution but not as a Pip..as an actual musician. Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

THE REVOLUTION.
When freedom (as Prince has said) was most important to him. Freedom really colored his lyrics and spoken philosophy back then ... wish such unjudgmental acceptance would return. Also, and most importantly, I liked the RAPPORT he had with the Revolution. I attended the Ames, IA Musicology concert and was so sad when Prince was playing guitar between Rhonda and Candy. Sad because it echoed a Wendy and Lisa sandwich, but in a hollow way. He didn't make eye contact with them. They didn't make eye contact with him. They didn't smile at each other. Nothing. No on stage exchange or electricity. Of course, it was like that with Wendy this year when she did Reflection on Tavis... But in 1984, They all would be grinning, eyeing each other, and playing off of each other right there on stage. It was palpable for the audience. He and Sheila used to do that too (wish she could be on tour with him now). So, yeah, the Revolution.... unparalelled chemistry. [This message was edited Sat Apr 24 23:24:26 2004 by SynthiaRose]

neither. I wouldnt even pretend I had the nerve to think I could improve on either of those great bands. The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.

After thinking about it some more, yeah, I'd still pick the Revolution.
Imagine all the songwriting and rehearsals, all the touring BEFORE Purple Rain dropped . . . and viewing the record charts as YOUR album stayed at #1 for weeks and weeks . . . Basically, I'd choose the 1999/Purple Rain-era. I think I might have creative differences with Prince after PR. I would've been one of those "put out a Purple Rain II" types.

The original NPG definately! Sounds way more fun to hang with them guys then Wendy or Lisa! Plus i could bust a hammer move or 2 with Tony,Damon and Kirk, or get to dance with the gorgeous Mayte, Carmen Electra or Diamond and Pearl! Come on man, no contest, the rev had no babes and were less fun than the original NPG on stage! They loom or acted depressed most the time, that ain't 4 me man..... I like skywalker's answer.
But, I belive it would be the current line up of the NPG. A lot of people pick the Revolution, I belive because of the Purple Rain era, because they belive that is when Prince was more creative with "Hit Songs". But most of all prince's album were recorded and he played all instruments. There were some credit given to Lisa, Wendy, John Blackwell, Rhonda, Candy and Others. The band learn the music for concerts. All Prince's bands were/are great live bands.
