I was watching the Divas Fiasco 2004 on VH1 and thought Sheila was the best thing on there. I loved the Romance 1600 concert, even the cheesy stuff. She has the best smile in the world and you feel her excitement, enthusiasm when she performs. Her, Prince and the revolution killed it in the finale. Great show.
I had the pleasure of seeing her in the Dallas area last month. She participated in an event called "Drummers for Jesus." When it was time for her to do her solo performance she chose to sing an inspirational song rather than play, like the other drummers. She told the story of how she was "raped" by a babysitter at the age of 3. I hadn't known of this before and she had me crying up in that church. She also read some scripture. It was really touching. Afterwards, she shook hands, gave autographs, and took pictures with every person that wanted to. She's really classy. This event was awesome, with world famous drummers jamming with some local musicians. It was a great opportunity to see her up close and tell her how much her talent and performances have meant to me.

I've seen her up close to at the last celebration, sat on the edge of the stage at her feet when she talked about her life, how she got into it all, what she does now, and her foundation for abused children... she's a goddess.

I had the pleasure of attending that concert at the Warfield Theatre in San francisco. We were sitting up in the balcony watching her dad play when I noticed that P was sitting on a table backstage and Sheila came and sat between his legs. My cousin freaked out. Then when sheila played if you listen closely you can hear us screaming PRINCE because we could see him and lisa and wendy. To shut us up he blew us a kiss and did the Hush sign ( finger to the lips) It was truly a treat to watch wendy and lisa backstage jamming to sheila and the band. Brown Mark was sitting up in the balcony by the sound board and I went and asked him if the revolution was playing that night. He said he didn't know but left about 25 minutes later. Then I saw fink, Jerome and bobby so I knew they were going to play. After the taping stopped they did kiss and I think Erotic Ctiy was after Kiss..not sure.
But it was a great night. I had my 18 year old cousin with me. she almost died. I haven't watched that show in a very long time I guess I need to get it out. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou
