Very positive french reviews It is about 2 a french reviews of musicology. The first one by the web site rnb2k.com is very positive and mysicology receives 5 stars out of 5. The second one "Le retour du Roi" (The return of the king) is very positive also.
The 2 reviews are here 5 (french) http://www.rnb2k.com/news_7634.html http://www.chartsinfrance...rticle=282 Here I go for the translations: The first article is quite long so I will somehow make it short. On top of it the way the journalist writes is quite silly, but I will keep the incoherence of the text. Add my mistakes in english to it and you ll be done ;oP Prince is back. On the international scene at least. The problem with beeing an indy is of course the lack of promotion, which never altered the quality of his records. Prince had some brillant ones, like the strongly jazzy Rainbow Children and the 4 instrumentals of news - without talking about his DVD live and the unforgettable 3 CDs One Night Alone-. By signing with Columbia, Prince can now make his comeback on the international scene. The purple dwarf was always over productive, more or less one album a year.. On top of beeing an artist as "complet" as the king of Pop himself, because beeing abble of playing many instruments. With all his qualitieshe is one of the biggest musical genius of his generation: if we count it, we have more than 20 albums in 20 years [wtf ? only 20 ?? I have more bootlegs than I thougth... ;o) ]. Hail to Mr Nelson. A very awaited comeback, with a record as high as is megalomania, humbly titled: Musicology. You gotta know that a music lesson with the kid of Minneapolis is always a very enriching experience in the life of simple mortals like us. The Artist with a big A is going back to his first loves: meaning a high voltage P Funk, eclectic [diverse], inbspired by his own musical journey form Purple Rain to Diamonds and pearls... A style we could call Rock & Funk, modern, perffectionnist, in 12 lessons. The definition of Funk first, with Musicology, inspired by the volcanic James Brown. Efficient, technical, nostalgic also... Prince is really on the top. More moderne with Illusion, Coma, Pimp and Circumstance, with a syncoped beat, funky as one could wish, the groove is taking control of our senses. More hip hop sound like with Life O the party, whiwh is reminding sign of the time in a "street" manner, catchier. The definition of ballads now, with songs like Call my Name. The magic is working, Love symbol is using his charms and his words to turn girls crazy. A excellent "parade nuptiale" [how to transalte this which is not that? ]. Softer now on The marrying King with its guitar riffs that are reminding that Prince is a god of Guitar, like Stantana or jimi hendrix. On the couch is more calling for sex, a freaky mood. About pop/rock, Million Days and Cincinamon girl are more convincing. Even if this songs are ligther, they are groovy and once again close to perfection. Bla bla bla... With his futuristic groovy percussions, Dear Mr Man, similar to the rainbow Children is a modern jazz/soul piece that we could coufound with nusoul. Reflection is confirming this tendance that is not in contradiction with the roots of his music: organic, melodioc, delicate and "jouissif" [makes you come]. Conclusion: 12 titles, 12 hits, 12 gems. A record with a potential that will enable him to encounter world success again. Le little Prince is faithfull to his reputation of beeing a perfectionnist. A new record perfectly conceived, a must have for his fans. For those wanting to educate themself in Musicology, listen carefully to this one, or check back his discography. The second one: Prince, le retour du roi... par Pierre-Charles PARSY A positive one. They say Prince is going to Paris, France in November. wow! | |
