Re-discovering Prince

The best thing of this so called comeback, could be that people pick up his other albums too - and discover what they've missed. Ok, Musicology is a cool record, but come on! Prince hasn't been away at any moment in his career! Although most people think Musicology is the follow-up to Diamonds & Pearls wink

And Prince should re-release The Gold Experience, why isn't such a great album available anymore??

Good point....I am rediscovering Prince. I was a fan from about 1979-1989, so I am really not familar with P's work over the last 15 years....I have a lot of catching up to do... lol lol

Prince should really make up with Warner get them to re-release things like Come and The Gold Experience. The Truth released as a single album would be cool. As well as the D&P, 3 chains, Undertaker and Sacrifice of Victor videos on dvd!

TheBoostress

um, before there was the org or npcmusicclub, there were others who have all the songs you want. I remember a list of over 200 recordings/bootlegs somewhere...which prompted Prince to start his club I believe (and I ain't mad at him).

The new joint is like watching All My Children after a few years...some things you recognize; others you don't; but you're so glad they're still there and have grown. What's good is what's GOOD

Definately Erwin! The chain of stores I work in (MVC) are currently running a promotion alongside Musicology:

£5:99 4 any of these:

ATWIAD

BATMAN

LOVESEXY

PURPLE RAIN

DIAMONDS & PEARLS

Much like giving away the CD at the gigs can only be a good thing!
(ie: people who may not have gone out and BOUGHT the CD, will have it as a 'gift', then, hopefully, (if they like it, and associate it with memories of a great concert with a unique artist) go out and buy His next release.

Im hoping that this will bode exceedingly well 4 either the next single release, or the next album. I tmay work, it may not - but if it does, it'll truly break the mould!

if gold experience is warners why is that the album thats out of print?? one thats his most critically acclaimed of the 90s and been out of print for donkeys years? didnt someone at a celebration ask prince about GE and he said its the only one "they" dont own. so obviously prince owns it. from what i remember warners just distributed it?

anyway i think he should either reissue it or put it on the musicology download store. imagine the press that would get. prince releases his most acclaimed album of the 90s for $9.99 or 7.77 is your a member. however i understand how he doesnt at the moment cos he wont want to do anything to overshadow musicology. but once that dies down next year/in a couple of years. he should stick it out. it could even serve to promote himself more if musicology takes a big dip or something

Was there a HIT on that album?

Uhm... NO

It's not a great album, it's just BETTER in comparison with the other whack albums he released throughout the 90's.
