You guys might figure that people could actually like the song. It is a good song. Wake up.

Since when do the masses these days appreciate good music? That's what surprises me.

.
edit: it must be the hype

I hate to be cynical, but I really feel like we're watching the payolla process unfold here.
Theres no WAAAAAY MTV audiences are feeling this video more than Jay-Z or Avril Lavigne this week. I really love the song, and it's by far the best video he's made in, well, decades, but this is insane! But goody for him, anyway. He deserves it, whether somebody bought it or not.

I tend to agree. It's just too weird.

Same here. But its cool. Good for him. Better that the general public gets force fed something other that T&A for a change. Plus, you know everyone is just building momentum for the 20th Aniversary of Purple Rain. Everyone is cashing in on it, and its fine. If it wasn't for the success of Purple Rain, Prince couldn't have done whatever he wanted for the last 20 years. I just see it as everyone milking it for all it's worth. Then Prince can go back to being Prince, i.e. not playing the game, doing interviews, etc. But who knows... maybe the general public will come around and true artists will be appreciated more. But we can't blame the public if all they are exposed to is garbage. It's all media manipulation.

WTF?! omfg

Holy shit! God bless the Kid!

Is it possible ppl actually like this song? I mean, American Life by Madonna got the typical push and promotion, but it still bombed, so maybe Prince isn't just getting this kind of success with the song cause of Columbia.

Spunky

Why all the surprise that the video has charted at number two? It is a great video, do you people actually look at the other videos out there, girls dancing, boys dancing the same dance routines the same posturing, has anybody noticed Usher, R Kelly you could swap them round and not notice the difference

It doesn't make sense to me. What's going on? Help me understand, if possible.

Now I understand. I decided to watch MTV today, during the time they actually show videos, and I found out all there isn't anything much good, is there? "Musicology" must be a huge relief and refreshment to those who do nothing but watch MTV.

Wow! Two things I thought I'd never see happened back to back! P got a video on the MTV top rotation...and you actually like the song!

This has to be a sign of the apocalypse!

Well, if you hate to be cynical, THEN WHY MUST YOU BE? Why not look on the side of possibility. Could it be that this video is possibly (and in my mind) one of the best videos that Prince has ever made? Could it be that all the success that he's had this year is because he's wanting to get out there and get heard. Couldn't it just be that it's about time?
