I saw it this morning and instantly thought he was sick or something. There was something different. Then I realized at the end of the interview, he was just sleepy. Earlier in the show Matt Lauer made a comment something to the effect of Prince was on his way, or he's trying to get here. I think Prince overslept and if you looked closely behind his shades, you could see MAJOR bags under the eyes. Also at the end, he made a little comment like, "Put the CD up again so I can wake up".

Oh well, it was a cool interview but I wish he could have performed.

It's a shame that when pressed on his documented opinions on the state of music today, he backs out. Clearly he wants to avoid controversy and picking on any individuals, "I'm just a guitar playing man" he says, but I think a lot of people agree with his opinions on this culture of synthetic disposable pop and he shouldn't be scared to express them. He has the power and respect and just now the exposure to be a leader on this issue, but he ducks it.

There again, he's probably clever enough to realise if you put yourself up there it only makes it easier for them to take pot-shots at you!

Very interesting interview. He did look a bit uncomfortable at times. Like when being asked about the industry and when asked about the two personas. Just my observation. He did seem reserved. He also seemed tired.

2 things: The concert has been taped...we know that for sure now. Maybe we'll see it released.
And what was the music in the background when he was being introduced? It sounded like maybe something off of Slaughterhouse or maybe ICP&C...???

Strange: I can get this video to play on my computer at work but not at home. The unfairness of it all.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. I LOVE THE .ORG

I didn't know about this and wouldn't have been able to tape or watch it even if I had.

Not only did he seem tired, but you can tell he's FORCING himself to do the interview. You can tell this is not something he wants to do, but has to...

and also it seems as though they r asking p a lot of his opinion about other artists..almost as if they are trying to start something, or get something going so that it can be a he-say she-say type thing. i hate when interviewers do that.

i don't know guys, his patience for interviewing may be wearing thin nowadays, glad i caught some of them on tape.....

also it seems like he would have more energy if he skipped the interviews anyway, did ya'll see how tired he was....poor thing!!!

I agree with you MetalOrange. Prince should stand up for what he feels about the music industry. I don't think he wants to damper the mood, so he's playin it chill.

I did indeed see it properly on tv. I had no idea he was going to be on. I just happen to have the Today Show on as I was preparing for work and heard them announce the show lineup for the morning and his name was mentioned. I instantly started recording (I was late for work by the way). I'm pretty sure he was very sleepy and had possibly overslept. I don't really think it was a situation of him not wanting to do the interview as much as it was just him being very sleepy.

By the way, it wasn't a shadow being cast, he actually had major baggage under the eyes, which is to be expected when having just awaken from a sleep.
