Brief RS mention of Usher v. Prince next week

Just a paragraph from Rolling Stone.

"Next week could offer an R&B showdown. Usher's sales have gradually been moving down to more modest levels, and while Prince doesn't shift units as wildly he did in the Eighties, his new Musicology comes packed with bunches of buzz following a Grammy-opening performance, a hyped summer tour and his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame."

P doesn't shift as wildly as in the 80's, huh? There's a mild understatment.

Wouldn't Prince have to shift over 250,000 units to beat Usher?

I cant see that happening.
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

.

Indeed. Usher sold another 300,00 this week.
Also, even if P does debut #1, and I hope he does, this ain't exactly a fair fight.
"Confessions" will have been out for a month.
I don't want to think about what would have happened had they dropped the same day.

Agree,Usher is good 4 this generation. Da thing I believe they might have a good close thing is dancing. They could be equals if P wuz 2 break out his dancing he did back in the day. Musically we all know Prince wins. & them 2 albums droppin' on the same day woulda been hell! I can imagine it..2 much drama.

usher, is a very talented singer and dancer. and it's just not for his generation. i am 46 and i love listening to usher.there is no way Musicology can beat Confessions.I am a huge Prince fan and have been from day 1, but you have to give props to usher. i bought 2 of his CD's. 1 for my car and 1 to keep at work. next year, the grammy's, soul train awards, AMA and MTV awards will belong to USHER.
