"A Million Days" - Is Anybody Digging This Track As Much As I Am I'm really loving the track "A Million Days" off the Musicology CD; I find myself listening to it repeatedly. This morning, I listened to it several times before leaving for work, and now the song is going thru my head over here.
This track is definitely my favorite, it reminds me of the "old school" Prince. I was in the chatroom last night, and a few other people said that they liked this song as well. This seems to be a popular cut off the CD, and I'm wondering how many other folks are loving it as much as I am. Feel free to post. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

It's a great song, and really deserves to be released as a single, before "Call My Name". The general audience needs to be re-introduced to the idea of Prince actually writing a decent strong pop/rock song, with some sentiments that they can relate to. It may not be the most quirky thing that he's recorded, but if this is the big rush for popularity he should be releasing the song with popularity potential. Do things as laid back as "Call My Name" get in the charts? I'd prefer "Cinnamon Girl" as a single before "Call My Name" too. It's memorable and has a chorus that is easy to remember!

It should be the next single, even my friends who dislike most P's songs love this song...so I think it could be a hit

Totally agree with you. Is my favourite too, along with How do you want me to do? and Cinnamon Girl. Cinnamon girl not as creative as the others but very nice to listen too. Life's a Parade! LoveLife, LoveSexy!

I totally agree this track def reminds me of old prince. the whole cd does. i remember buying prince cds and my favorite song would seem to change on a daily basis. which is what i always liked about his music. a different song for each different mood rock songs, funk songs, love songs, when the melting pot stirs how we gonna take it?
when u can't tell him from her how u gonna fake it?

The chorus to "A Million Days" reminds me of "3 Chains O' Gold" for some reason. I don't know how that comparison sits with U, but I dig both songs.

It was only when I bought the CD yesterday that I noticed that during the chorus it's actually his vocal harmonies creating that deep, background sound. From the downloads, I'd just thought it was synths.

I'll get corny for a minute, but when I first heard "A Million Days", it reminded me of "Little Red Corvette" so much I had flashbacks and almost got teary eyed! It's a fine song and could really really chart well if it was remixed a couple times to reach a wider audience.

This song rocks, a few of my friends loved this song, untill i told them it was song by prince, well that was only sum of them.
I think this song rocks, not my fav on the album, but 1 of the best. My fav bit ont he album, is when the guitar cum's in (1:21) "I’m contemplating pulling out my suitcase And packing everything eye own" I'm in love with this song !!!!! Keenmeister

I hear that too. But it also has some other elements of old P that I can't put my finger on. Maybe it does just stem as far back in sound as 3 chains...which is pretty far. This is my favorite track on the disk. I feel all of the emotion coming trough this track than any other I have heard lately. I feel as if he's talking to all of the fans...though it's not about that...when he says he's been gone for only a short while, but it feels like a million days. I dunno, I don't hear it single though. But then that's not a gauge of anything when it comes to P. And is it me..but with all it's loveliness, does the track feel like it's holding back on something...like it wants to let loose but can't...it's a bit constrained. Like that guitar should be pushed forward or something. I can certainly hear this being played live. Oh Yes Live this song would soar! Christian Zombie Vampires

It captures what's special about Prince, the fact that he hears music that no one else does. It's also great to have a song about lost love on the cd. No one does those better than Prince!

Ironically this is my favorite segment of the song as well. I love when the guitar kicks in and his vocal phrasing on the 2nd verse are outstanding. Classic Prince, heartfelt lyrics, great guitar work and empassioned vocals.

It's funny, all the songs people are raving about on "Musicology" are my least favorites. I skip "Million Days" and "Call My Name." Bleh. On the other hand, "Marrying Kind" and "If I Was the Man..." together is my favorite part of the disc.

Hence the beauty of Prince. He is different things to different people. Every album is the same, one person's favourite ins another's trash.

Totally agree, it's my fave track on the album. It's really bizarre how every critic has labelled different tracks as being stand outs or stinkers. As the previous poster said, it's the way all Prince's music works.

I have found myself listening to "A Million Days" frequently since I got the CD. One critic wrote that it captures Romantic Longing beautifully. That's very true, especially within Prince's guitar work. "The fanbase I have now, they're so sophisticated, they almost expect me to do the unexpected." -Prince

It's my Favorite ya know but it's quite like Romantic Longing and quite sad. I adore it though as Prince Begs his Lover.

Cinnamon Girl could be a single, but not this.

i to love this song! however 1 thing bugs me is that whenever i listen to it all the way thru i alway imagine right at the end a voice should suddenly say come or an npg operator should say welcome 2 the dawn. 4 me this song has the same sort of vibe as the whole come/gold experiance era. not a bad thing by any means. does any 1 else hear that ?

I'm really diggin' the classic "Comptuer Blue"-like scream at the end of the song!

Bought the disc yesterday and I must have played this song 20 times already. I need to stop before I get sick of it. By far my fave on the album. It gets even better when you add the last minute or so of Illusion.... just the way that funky ass riff leads into A million days is classic.
