Good lord...this board is soooo hilarious sometimes.

First of all he is not putting down Sex in the City. He is just referring to the sexy edginess of the show. Similar to how sheek and edgy Dynast was in the 80s. He just substituted Dynasty for Sex in the City because it si more current. It is not a put down

Man some of you are lame
Dance... Let me see you dance

Whoa!

Some of you have serious issues.

It was just a comment. I remember Dynasty. Why change it? To have relevance? How conformist.

ZZZZZzzzzz

So from now on, I'll remember to just post nice things about Prince, otherwise I'll be chastized for having my own opinion. lol

Conforming to what? I think changing is a better statement which is something that Prince fans seem to hate to see him do for one reason or another. No Prince, if you perform this song in the year 2013 keep saying Dynasty! He's not conforming because if you consider him saying SITC conforming, then he was also conforming when he said Dynasty back in the 80's. If the word isn't helping everyone understand what he is trying to relate, then he needs to make the word a little more relevant to the listener by saying something everyone has heard of recently. Prince isn't just trying to reach all of the people who remember Dynasty (although I do) on this tour. Just be glad we have lived long enough to witness a new show being ushered into this song and he is still performing this song to begin with.
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

I don't understand why some people take small matters so seriously & personally instead of enjoying what the little man has to offer.

It ain't the fact that he's saying, "Sex & the City" it's the way he says it which is annoying. It's all, "check out how i've cleverly updated the song" when he speaks it. Just sing the damn line!

You want the same ? Don't ya? Prince wants Different. He wants to change stuff. I say he is just being Cool or Current. He can say Dynasty if he wants. You just want the songs the way they are. I get you.

I don't mind if he changes the line, he can say Dynasty, S&TS, Sesame Street - i don't care! I just think he needs to drop the way he says it in a knowing "i'm hip and up-to-date" way. I just think he should sing the line. sad

He will always change it to the current "hip" show...He said "Queer Eye for a Straight Guy" in a few shows.
