WHO WANTS TO JOIN ME ON A PRINCE DETOX??

You know i spend so much time listnin to Prince music that i am startin to wonder if i am either appreciating crap music or if i am not appreciating his stuff enough???

MY SOLUTION.....

A PRINCE FAST. A detox if you will where prince is banished from my speakers for at least a week. Then i can come to it with fresh ears.

Anyone up for the challenge?? Come on don't leave me out here all alone.

I know some of you could do with a detox.

It would also include not visiting the org so much. every other day will be the max.

so what you say??? huh??

NO,
can't do it

It's sad what passes for music these days. So much untalented noise

The New Prince CD is sooooo much better than what on the radio today.

Amen to that. I saw the interview that he did with Matt Lauer on The Today Show, and he mentioned how today's artists never learned to play an instrument (hence, sucky music..lol), so he sat Beyonce down (before their performance at the Grammys), and taught her a couple of easy scales on the piano. Not that her music sucks anyway, but I'm sure that she'll be enriched by the lesson. She's always been the type of person who loves to learn new things (from what I understand).

Saw the video for Musicology...these so called artists have a lot to learn from THE artist! cool
"'Prince is crazy' -- I knew what people were saying," he says. "When I became a symbol, all the writers were cracking funnies, but I was the one laughing. I knew I'd be here today, feeling each new album is my first."

Actually, we're pretty similar in that respect. I'm hoping Musicology gets me back on board. His last few albums have been quickly forgotten about. neutral

I haven't listened to Musicology yet, but I will sometime this week. I'm actually kind of scared to listen to it because I'm afraid I'll be let down. lol I've stopped reading people's reviews of the album and the concerts because I'd just rather not know in advance.

sigh That's my fear, too. But VinaBlue reckons it's like a cross between SOTT & The Truth so that makes me a little more hopeful as they're my two favourite albums of his. woot!

Only 7 days??? It'll take longer than that to get Prince out of your system my friend. 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness is what I prescribe. After that you'll be begging to hear the song Grafitti Bridge like it was the last song on earth.

Trying to get Prince out of your system now is like quitting drinking during OctoberFest.

listened to Prince.....yes, that one time when...no.....hmm
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I aint asking anyone to listen to Nsync or any of the American Idols here.

I am just suggesting no prince. You can still spin George CLinton or whateva just not prince.

I think anyone could only benefit from this weeks detox.

It is jurting me already. i started this morning and i am dying to put on sumthin but i am stickin to James Brown and Ella Fitzgerald so far.

I know i wont get the brutha out my veins entirely but i see this week as a methadone option, if you get what i mean. hopefully it will stoke the Prince fire again.

Looks like i is on my own.

which is a shame cos there is a few of you who i think need counselling and not just detox to get help.

Forced Detox this weekend! I'll be in a Yurt near the ocean with a bunch of other hippies chilling to ambient music.

In the past 3-4 weeks I've been immersed in the Purple funk...bought Chocolate Invasion, Rave remix, NEWS, received Musicology, been to the concert showing, watched the RRHOF like 4 or 5 times...as well as all of the other interviews..."forced" to play Prince at a party for 3+ hours with 2 CDs.

Prettyman and Judas Smile are on constant rotation!

Wish me luck with my detox razz
