MUSICOLOGY A PERFECT 10

I downloaded and listened to the Musicolgy album today and its great! For the first time in years since i could listen to a prince album once and love it. There is not one bad song on the entire cd....really not one. I made several threads about the single Musicolgy that it would not become a hit and maybe it wont. But, in my eyes now, its a hit. Musicolgy has the right ingredients. Music for the die hard fans, the pop and r&b fans (those sexy ballets). Those kick ass guitar riffs. This album has everything. All it took was one listen to know that this album is definetly a 10!.

Prince is a creative genius and i must remember that because his music is just that. And it consist of real instruments and not machines.

thumbs up! headbang

i'd give it an 8.

it started at 7. i put it on par with the Vault. not a classic. nothing revolutionary for popular music or even Prince's career, but a good solid listen that sounds good at any time.

Agreed!

The album is just a collection of perfectly produced tight songs! No filler! I love it!!!!

I think that maybe there is a reason why Prince has made a relatively short album with all hit-sensitive songs... just maybe he wants to recreate the success of PR by turning every song into a single or B-side.

Maybe, this will become clear when a second and third single are being released, but I think that the first single is an indication of that. Musicology has On The Couch as a B-side... It's just a theory ofcourse, but I think it's very plausible.

First off rave was not in no way a bad album. but, if i have to compare this album it will be diamonds and pearls. Had rave been promoted right it would have sold at lease 5million copys. This album i predict it will. biggrin

Novabreaker

I'm listening to the whole album for the 2nd time right now, and I have to say that all in all this is an excellent outing.

And it just brings one question to my mind:

Wtf were you people whining?!

No, the album doesn't have an overt hip-hop influence, nor does it sound like NPS or Rave. It's his most stylistically and production-wise even record since... who remembers? There's not a bad track on the album, and even if I personally hated Musicology as a single (and still don't think it was the wisest of choices) I can see how it fits well with the rest of the record. It's hard to say how this will fare at the counters all across the world's HMVs but there's nothing that even a pathetic musical elitist like me would dislike about it. It's just all in all, genuinely appealing.

Good work. He has apparently learnt his lesson. Let's just hope that they'd even get the album cover right too this time.

- It´s being well promoted so far. Lots of newspapers here in Brasil talk about it. When TRC and NEWS were released I couldnt see nothing on the papers. I wonder if it will be a hit or not...

dude you like 7 out of 12 tracks... sounds to me like you like it a lot more than you're telling us.

prince is eclectic.. its rare for a fan to be as openminded as he is and enjoy EVERY song on an album...

Yup, I'm with ya'll. I"m bumpin' this album 24/7! Right this minute, I'm playin' Marrying Kind/ If I Could Be The Man In Ur Life. The two songs have a nice transition between them.

Prince did it this time baby!
