WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST TRACK ON THE ALBUM. Which I think is a little unfocussed imho.

This is one of the gems that we all know are hidden in the vault, and it would've been a shame had it not been shared with the world.

Amazing that what some see as the best track on the album is among the worst to others. I think ICPC is god awful as is CG and LOTP. If not for those tracks the album would have a much better flow. To each his own.

Well, add another vote for the "love it" category. Best song on the album, hands down. It has that funky, just plain weird, Prince feel. To the folks comparing it to NPS, well, I think this was the sound he was trying for on that disc, but just couldn't seem to get down. To me, the only song on the disc that sounds like that era is "Life O The Party", but even that one is bolstered by a thumpin drum line, which NPS was sorely lacking. I've said for ages that that album would have been sooo much better had it just had better drums. (Imagine if " Like Funky Music" had a drum sound like LOTP does!) I digress.

This song just kicks all kinds of booty! The sparse drum sound, coupled with the crazy, whacked-out vocals make for an incredibly funky sound. Prince downplays the bass sound, which gives this a sound completely unlike anything on the radio today (which is what P did back in the day with "When Doves Cry", but here he is using this technique to a completely different effect). Lyrically, this song reminds me of the sheer bizzareness (I'm sure this isn't a word, but y'all understand) of tunes from SOTT/Black Album/Lovesexy. "Shockadelica", "Rock Hard In A Funky Place" and other "Camille" tracks are very much in this same vein. What makes it great is that P is building on the sound of those songs, but doing something new with it. He isn't just doing the same stuff he did back then.

This song alone is worth the whole album!!!

Ok, so maybe I'm the only one that spends that kind of money on my "toys". The point still is Prince doesn't have to "try" and be hip, cool, funky, fine or anything else. He was born that way.

I'm sorry. I like the chorus and the beat. It's funkay, but I HATE the verses! STUPID lyrics and I hate the way he stops and starts. JMHO
