Musicology

Ok, i don't wanna sound negative, but after 4 days i just got "musicology", & i am... very disappointed !

I love the 3 tracks we had b4 ("musicology", "reflection" & "what do u want me 2 do"), so i xpected a great, relaxed pop/funk album, & all i get is a weak one.

Ok, it ain't crap at all, & it's still better than most of the stuff that gets on the radio, but after an xperimental masterpiece like "news", or "c-note" or the year 1 masterpieces (the chocolate invasion, the slaughterhouse & all the songs that didn't ended on these 2), i think it's a bit disappointing 2 have just another Prince album which sounds like another Prince album...

It seems that every 5 years Prince has 2 release a commercial "pop" album (d&p in 1991, rave in 1999...) 2 get back on the charts, & i just can't understand why !!!

So, of course i'll listen 2 "musicology" again & again, of course i'll eventually fall in love with most of its songs but...

U know...

Dude play it loud and listen to the music and lyrics to any othe the songs and u will see y this is a great LP. "Cinnamon Girl" alone got me hooked' and then "a Million Miles'; and then "What Do u..." and then "Reflection", and then "The Marrying Man", and so forth

The Chocolate Invasion & The Slaughterhouse are masterpieces? I think not. Good collections of songs but they're not even close 2 being real albums, much less masterpieces.

duh...RAVE was a chart album, it debuted in the top 20 on the pop top 200 albums chart, i believe at number #18.

Um...you'll love this record with more listens...give it more time!
Its not a great record, but its new PRINCE, and I bet his follow up will be a great record!

Because he's testing the demographics, the media, the critics, the fans...so PRINCE will once again give us another great record...but MUSICOLOGY is as good as anything else out there today!

I love most of the tracks on this LP and with time and radio play, plus music videos to go along with, it will sure enough be one of the best selling records of 2004!

First time i heard it, i was disappointed as you shaomi. I thought, once again a album for the chart, written with the mind not with his heart, soul and without mahing use of P.´s musical capabilities; nothing you never heard before - like SOTT, Lovesexy. But after listen to it four times it begins to grow and yeah, there are very special musical moments in there, you just have to listen to it close. Put your headphones on and listen to "A million Days" at 2:40 - 2:50. Listen to the bass- (or maybe low guitar-) line. That is amazing and very very slippy - that´s one of these moments. All the songs are very strong, apperently played in a good positive mood and they have strong capability. At the end of Cinnemon Girl and IIWTMIUL you think, now a 4 to 10 minute prince-typical musical trip beginns and before it really starts it ends - that´s a shame but maybe..

Yeah, and Scooby Doo 2 was number 1 at the box office this week.

It ain't how you start, its how you finish. For the record, I like some of the stuff on Rave, but it ain't my favorite.
