Musicology enters Top 100 - R&B airplay

R&B radio is all over the Musicology single as today it hits #88 on the R&B airplay chart

http://www.mmr247.com/mmr...0&cutoff=1

Its also # 1 on the "Taking Off" chart (most adds /new spins)

It looks like it's doing even better on the Urban/AC chart, but I can't find a way to see past the top 20. Here are some more relevant links:

stations who have played it at least twice this week:
http://www.mmr247.com/mmr...e=PRINM4++

as you said, #1 on the taking off chart
http://www.mmr247.com/mmr...p?chart=U1

also I believe the top new song on the jump list

http://www.mmr247.com/mmr...p?chart=U1

And for Urban/AC - stations playing it at least twice
http://www.mmr247.com/mmr...e=PRINM4++

#2 on the taking off chart
http://www.mmr247.com/mmr...?chart=U2R

#3 on the jump chart
http://www.mmr247.com/mmr...p?chart=U2

and the spin count and station count on both charts went way up yesterday (now at 103/31 and 114/37 as of Tue Mar 30 6:22 AM PST). Should make another big jump today on both charts.

Like I said the first time I heard the song, this thing will go top 10 easy - possibly #1.

While not starting as strong, it is also on now the taking off chart for the CHR/Rhythmic chart
http://www.mmr247.com/mmr...p?chart=Y0
and has 44 spins now. Here are the stations playing it
http://www.mmr247.com/mmr...e=PRINM4++

Hasn't done anything on CHR/Pop stations, though.

dang, alan you're a bigger chart freak then me biggrin

>>Hasn't done anything on CHR/Pop stations, though.<<

Actually according to Radio and Records website they have Musicology "going for adds" at R&B only and not Pop which may explain the lack of activity on Pop stations. It is very possible that they may service a different song to Pop stations in the coming weeks (which IMO would be the smart thing to do).

I LOVE the album, way more than I thought I ever would, but I'm really doubtful it has much chart potential beyond the R&B/AC charts. There's nothing on it that sounds in step with the Hot 100. I'd love to be proven wrong, and maybe a remix could help, but it's going to be sell it beyond gold without a crossover hit.

so the CHR/Rhytmic stations playing it aren't even being asked to by Sony/NPG Records - they're just going after the R&B stations? I think it would have been a hit in both markets. Any ideas when the video will get on the video stations?

It's also the clear #1 taking off song on both Urban and Urban AC

note that in the last day, Urban/AC stations played the song a total of 48 times. Simply maintaining that rate gets Musicology into the top 20 within a week.

I don't listen to mainstream radio unless the semi-annual beg-a-thon on public radio forces me to scan the dial. Which happened this morning in the shower, so imagine my surprise to hear Musicology playing on our local Clear Channel-owned shite urban station!
You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!

a day and a half later and the spins have gone up to

Urban AC - 215 spins - 38 stations
Urban - 154 spins - 38 stations, #67
CHR/Rhythmic - 73 spins

Also, for sales, it's the #3 best selling pop track at the iTunes music store, and #19 overall. There's a chance that next week it hits the top 20 in both the R&B chart and the digital tracks chart in billboard.

does musicology the single get faster near the end?
if so why speed up? it seems more than just human 'error', more like a distinctive tempo change.

some songs do this when their not recorded with a click track to the drummer (common people by pulp does this). ill have to do a proper analysis with my sequencer to be sure.
