Has PRINCE finally found The tightest Band he has ever had??
this past Monday I saw PRINCE for the 50th time performing. At CLUB Black right up front, i dont think I have ever heard a tighter band in my life. I know we all have our favorite lineups and things like that but U cannot deny that PRINCE himself is at his best now in terms of his playing and band setup. I dont waste my time comparing concert to concert or album to album or any of that stuff, its wasted energy, the times were different, i mean is it fair to even compare a John Blackwell to Bobby Z?? This show totally blew my mind and brought me back to why I love PRINCE and music in general, its inspirational, I mean seeing PRINCE solo during SSHHH or Question Of U, u cant put a price tag on that, so why try?? Honestly this is my favorite Lineup ever in a PRINCE band just for what they bring to the table, I mean JB is out of control, and usually I dont like the Horns, but Maceo and company blow my mind, and Renato is exactly what PRINCE needs, a player that doesnt fall into a category and Rhonda well what can I say about this woman, she gave me a wave as she came on stage and I almost passed out, she is on fire and a great player too, as PRINCE would say, Now thats Sexy! Yeah well I blame that on the 1989-1993 absence from touring here. Plus Im in NYC he doesnt come here too often. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F | |

Finally a thread that has some MEANING!
I agree, I think his current line up is the tightest he's had. The Revolution, The SOTT/Lovesexy line up and the Gold era line up were all fantastic in their own special way but right at this moment in 2004 you couldn't ask for a better group of musicians. I hate it when I show Prince videos to regular people and they say "cool backing band"! That makes me cringe - it's not a BACKING band like Kylie Minogue would have - it's PRINCE'S band and family - they all grow together! Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com
