I keep reading on the org how this song sucks(I'm not dismissing the positive reviews here...I've read ya and I luv ya). Many of the complaints I've heard of the song cite the lyrics and simple music structure. PEOPLE! Why must every song Prince comes out with have some deep profound message or insanely complex musical structure. If U want that listen to Pink Floyd(I guarntee U won't want to listen to that ALL day. Prince, I can listen to ALL day and that's why I love him.
I feel that everyone wants hime to come out with Purple Rain over and over again. Now dfon't get me wrong, that's a GREAT song. However, all songs are not meant to be Purple Rain. One man can only say so much, and I think Prince says a lot. Can't he just get down and have a good time every now and then. I know all of U don't like to be on you P's & Q's all the time. Musicology is a great litte ditty. That's all, a great little ditty. A bass line not like many others, some nice horn lines and some interesting quippy rhymes(I espicially like hte PHD in Body movin' part).

So please cut the brotha some slack!

I loved it the first time I heard it. I haven't had this feeling about the lead-off song from an album since "Alphabet St."

I agree with you 100%. As long as the music is good and the brother doesn't loose his vioce I will always be a fan.Heck even if he looses his voice the brother can still play some mean funk. You smell it.
