New tour sounds like Vegas The current band is not sounding very Vegas to me. I just watched "Lovesexy:Live" and the horns are just as prominant as they are in the new band. Also, for all the complaining about Prince recently doing medleys of his "hits", the Lovesexy show was quite heavy on the Medleys-especially during the 1st half. So I don't understand how people can love the Lovesexy show to death and then complain about the newer shows having too many horns and medleys. "New Power slide...." |

I am addressing a complaint that has been stated that the new band (who has played several venues live with the material for the tour) sounds like Prince gone Vegas. Thanks for your comment, cutie. "New Power slide...." |

I personally think a cheesy, Vegas Prince is the way to go! 
I think his funk-tank is almost empty:he's copying now instead of building on his sound; his abilities to write a truly great song has dried up! He's not "edgy" anymore..... BRING ON THE VEGAS ACT, BABY! There's LOTS of inspiration,entertainment, and "camp value" in VEGAS PRINCE! Hey, it added YEARS to Tom Jones, Jack Jones, Engelbert Humperdink,& Charo's careers! There's a time to just throw in the towel, when the hits stop, and go where the love is, and that's VEGAS! I'm not being funny, I think if Prince becomes a VEGAS PRINCE, he'll be a tourist draw,and his general weirdness ,and crazy costumes will be accepted there, which means he can coast by cheesing up his catalog and get more popularity that way, than issuing albums noone notices thru labels that go tats-up until his last days! I'm pro VEGAS PRINCE! | |

I've got no problem with medleys, it allows us to hear more tunes. Prince is a like a DJ with medleys, he plays a couple of verses a chorus and then let's hear another hit. I don't mind that, it's the new horn sound, or should I say old, that bothers me. He's always used horns, but it seems that he's overusing them now and not using any of his signature synth horns. Listen to the new version of "Baby I'm a Star" or "1999" with real horns and you'll see a big difference from the punk-funk Prince sound and an oldies James Brown sound. ______________________________________________
