Re-mastering

What album do you think would benefit the most from a good re-mastering job? I would have to say Parade. It's not my favorite Prince album, but it needs some serious production help!

What are your thoughts?

I agree with Sign O The Times, but I say all in a Super Audio multichannel format, that would B the greatest

chaos and disorder

i did a jazz festival with the hornheads, and michael b. nelson told me prince had that album soundin' way mo' tighter than what we got...
nelson heard the finished product and couldn't believe how different it sounded...
it's almost like it was 2 good...and prince didn't want the last effort 4 wb 2 sound 2 clean...

i guess they really had been had...

Dude ALL his 80's albums. Let me also say that I wouldn't mind to have all his albums in the same re-mastered quality.

Yeah, I always thought it sounded dull (sonically, not musically) compared to The Gold Experience and Emancipation which were released at around the same time. Maybe Prince did do it on purpose so he could later down the road release a better quality version?

If you convert the SOTT CD to mp3 and put the MP3's in a sound editor, the spikes on the volume are so low, it's mastered so quiet. Definately SOTT.

Warner Bros just did a fantastic job on Fleetwood Mac's Rumours DVD Audio remaster... hope they do the same for Princes stuff. Early CD Mastering is notoriously bad.

Its only more likely tho when (and if) SACD and DVDA become popular, but with the craziness over mp3 the demand just isnt there.

Everything up to Lovesexy needs to be re-done, no doubt about it.

Lovesexy has a cold metallic sound as well... I re-Eq'd it to make it warmer sound.
