Can't really think of any songs that are truly underated by Prince fans.

I mean there are people here that think 'arms of orion' is a decent song! hmm

I don't think 'Crystal Ball' gets the props it deserves considering it may be his masterpiece.
I think this is partly because it never got a 'proper' album release, but also because it's 'still' light years ahead of ayhting else out there.

I remember my Dad buying the 'Crystal Ball' package for me- he must have paid like £50 for it. i knew then, as i know now, it was a ridiculous amount to pay. We sat and put on the first cd in the lounge. I was just thinking please play something that can justify that price tag!!! The song is so musically complex and intense that by the end i felt drained. I knew from the first listen that it was something truly special.

Another song that i think is underated is 'god created woman'. A Prince classic that isn't considered a classic yet.
"London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"

"YEAH!!!"

"Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

SCANDALOUS

I'm not overly fond of ballads, but this is awesome. I found it grew on me. Its really haunting and the vocals are stunning. You don't hear many orgers talking about this one.

The blues guitar in this song is AMAZING...but maybe it's the
"you do
i don't
now die"

NOOOOO....NOOOO...etc. then screams like damon wayons"

OK it's been awhile since I listened to all of it (skip that part) but his gee-tar is beautiful

Also: Soft & Wet

"Hey Lo-vah...." fonky and androgyous...and fine! And that was played on R&B stations.

"We Can Funk"

"Thunder" the Joffrey Ballet version. I was fortunate enough to see that in LA, heard what he added to it...and CRIED y'all. The combination of beautiful music and movement. Another reason I love him so.

May be true...doubt it because I bought that tape (yep, I'm that old) that had the lyrics in it. It was my sr. of high school or just after. And I was diehard then. Also, in ATWIAD he made mention to "this little Prince" and that was a HUGE deal because no one was allowed to discuss his height. But then again...who knows. He may have let the music critic say what he wanted to. Because I remember reading that and thinking, oh my God Prince is growing.

He may have let people report that...Robert Hilburn of the LA Times is very influential and was so even when Prince got spewed w/trash at the LA Coliseum in 1981. Think he may have changed it though. It's been nearly 20 years!

Damn I'm old!
