Will the real Prince fans please stand up ....

Where are the real Prince fans who loves Prince ? I'm not talking about the snobby fans, who think it's their job 2 shit on everything Prince does, I'm mean the real fans who knows how 2 get down & party and stands 4 love ? How can u like the music but not the man who created the genusis work, I'm beginning 2 think a lot of you are in the closet about your Fascination with dude. Well I'm not trying 2 hide anything y'all, especailly when it comes 2 good music. Prince is da man.

It's been a hard the past 10 years w/Prince. I am a true fan. I've been w/Prince since 1981. BUT the truth of the matter is Prince has had so many ups and downs it effects all of his following. I will always love Prince and the music, but everytime there is a glimmer of hope it fades away. I want nothing but the best for him, but the glory days are long gone.

I do like his direction in music he has taken, but like the most of us I miss the past.

I really don't feel you have to like the person to like the music. I don't know Prince so, other than loving him as a child of God, I don't 'love' him. Tha'ts just wierd to me. Prince is indeed the man and a bad motherfucker.

I consider myself a true fan and have been for more than 20 years. I try very hard not to let what he does in his personal life affect how I feel about his music. His personal life has been a rollercoaster for us true fans, but it always comes back to the music and how amazing he is as a musician. Below is a recent quote from Prince in the latest edition of RS. Check it!

"And Prince embraces his longstanding role as a mentor to the other artists. "A lot of the younger artists are giving props to what came before them," he said. "When you hear stuff like that, it really warms your heart. The one thing I want them to do though is to understand that a lot of things I did when I was younger was because I was younger and I was seeking attention. At the same time I was being very true to the music and my spirit. But your spirit evolves. Mine is constantly evolving and I hope that if they want to follow me, they keep following me."

i totally agree with Christ1986. And besides i think Prince should have moved to Europe long ago, perhaps London. I think he's been too much inside Paisley Park in the 90's, spending too much time with people who didn't dare enough to tell him not to do this, and do that etc.etc. He doesn't know how to make a difference anymore, though he does still make different music and he should be able to amaze people all around the globe. David Bowie some day said he thought Prince has his musical midlife-crisis and David really thought P would get over it. David knows...(1980's crisis, t least that;s what people think)

prince has touched my life... and its not likely any of you ever will...

who cares what a "real fan" is... that is just some crap someone who spends an awful lot of time thinking about prince comes up with cause he is jealous other people can like prince too..

i may check the org everyday for updates...

but i dont care what anyone thinks of prince or thinks of me liking prince...

i think some of the obsessive nature and the "i know more than you" crap that goes on here turns more people off than anything...

and the negativity is rediculous... i dont think anyone on this board has ever nor will they ever achieve half of what prince has... so to talk crap on anything he's doing now is utterly rediculous outside your self important world....

why exactly did i take the time to wirte this?

i guess so i can see my words burnt into this site and feel self important like someone cares what i just wrote...

damn am i one of you?

neutral I can understand if some people are disappointed to find out the Prince isn't the person they thought he was, but that is not Prince's fault. We all had a image of who we wanted to see. Prince seems to have worked out alot of his "stuff", and we all have "stuff"- ugly things in our character, that alienate people. Going forward, all his actions will reflect his spiritual convictions, especially his music. Like it or not, we cant go back to the same Prince and the same music we heard in 1984. He is an artist, and as far as I'm concerned, he should just do his thing, and if the people are down with the flavor, then cool, and if not- then that's ok , too.
Even if Prince was making music that appealed to masses of people, I'm sure that he would have marginal commercial success. The music industry is courting the younger audience, and when your 45, its not that easy to tear up the charts. As we leave the concerts on the Musicology Tour, we have to leave with an open mind about what is to come from Prince. It's a brand new day...
The road you choose to walk in this life, is a road that leads to the next.....

I don't think I know what constitutes a "real fan". But I've been on the brotha's side for more than 20 years, and I'm not about to turn back now!

As for most of what goes on around here, well, that's just people projecting on to Prince their own disatisfaction with their own lives. Painful to witness, yes, I know. But knowing that the drivel that gets spread around here can in no way touch the joy Prince has giving me so much of over the years, keeps me going and looking forward to watching Prince continually excel to heights their limited imaginations couldn't even dream of.

I love Prince...he is a wonderful and truly talented musician/singer/songwriter, etc...the thing that some people can't accept, is that as fans, we sometimes become selfish and want a person to stay the same...just as they were when we first saw or heard them. But Prince is a true artist, and if we really love him, we have to allow him to evolve as an artist and as a person, I am sure that thoughts running through his head now are just a tad bit different than they were some twenty years ago. There have been songs and albums that I wasn't really excited about, but the one thing that is consistent is that he is always challenging himself and us as the listeners. I think he is in constant search of the sounds and words that will best represent his thoughts and current state. How can we not appreciate him for this and how can we not want to go along for the ride to see where Prince and his sound will take us next. prince

I agree TOFKA, ohter than loving him as a child of God, loving him for the person who he is without even knowing him personally is just weird idolatry.
