Well basically annie christian represents the fear of women Prince possesses and he copes with it by associating them with whores, the devil and all things bad  | |

He's merely talking about bad things that happened (current events and controversial issues) such as the Atlanta child murders, Nixon and Watergate, Lennon getting killed, gun control, Reagan receiving that assasination attempt. Prince is staging a protest by "living his life in taxi cabs".
His guitar work in that song is amazing. Cause in my possession there's a signed confession that says, I was the best you EVER had....too bad. | |

It's wonderful. it's incredibly wonderful. I had read the lyrics before i had ever heard the song and i thought that i wouldn't like it because of the subject matter but wow...that is one good song. | |
