New Person 2 Hate: Maceo Parker after reading another thread about Prince and the jb sound..some people were complaining about having 2 hear Maceo doing a solo..Is Maceo taking the place of Larry? maceo is great...i went to see him a few years ago at the tla in philadelphia. i will say, thought, that the man can wear out his welcome, lol! he went on at 9 or so and that man was still on when i left at 1am! 
when i went to the celly last time, he just played and played and played and...well, you get the point. but i would never dislike him for that! i just take a smoke break or drink break or whatever. if its prince's show, then the responsibility to put ol' maceo on a time limit is up to p. | |

i agree..100 percent. Prince pays respect to the ones that came b4 him.
my respect 4 maceo increased after 1)seeing him on the mothership connection tour dvd: those horns were killing!! and he even jumped in on back vox 2) finding out he was the emcee on "aah the name is bootsy"..put yo hands 2 gether and clap y..now everbody say bootsy..bootsay!!!! minor keys and drugs don't make a rollerskate jam | |

I don't dislike Maceo, but I do get tired of hearing his named called out all the time -- we KNOW who he is, you don't have to keep telling us!
I do prefer Eric Leeds though - he's been around PRINCE a lot longer, and basically IS the Prince "Horn" sound. Maceo is a legend, but he already has his own sound developed. I agree with EWM, Maceo ages the band, and brings too many references to JB and Parliament with him. BUT, he's welcome to stay as long as Larry Graham doesn't come back!  |
