I agree... that's nuts!! Talk about an obscene profit margin! No wonder scalpers can get P's undies in a twist!
Personally, I don't have a huge problem w/ ticket resellers. If you buy something you should be able to mark it up and sell it. That's the American way and a fundamental element of a free market economy. I mean if I buy a car and someone wants to give me more than I paid for it the next day I can choose to sell it, right? Why not a concert ticket? Once I buy it its mine to dispose of as I wish. But sheesh!! That's like a 700+% mark-up. Is there anyone that desperate to see the back of Prince's head for two hours?!

Sad thing is, someone will be crazy enough to pay this! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Is there anyone that desperate to see the back of Prince's head for two hours?! back of Prince's head! I agree that, once you own something, you should have the right to sell it to whomever you like for as much as they're stupid enough to pay you. But the problem with ticket scalpers is that they have an unfair connection/source to obtain the majority of the best seats before they are even offered to the public at large. The poor guy or gal that slept on the pavement in front of the ticket window for a week may still not get better than first row balcony. In this scenario, the only way to get close is to pay the 700% mark-up, "know" somebody or be a member of the press or whatnot and that sucks. So, Prince is actually getting his undies in a twist for a good cause and is doing a good thing in trying to keep the venues and ticket distribution companies from controlling all the good seats and make it a more level playing field for the fans who truly want to be down front. Didn't Pearl Jam or somebody have a lot of press over this, cancelled the tour or got sued or something? (sorry -- memory is sketchy) I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

Or pay Prince $25 and join the NPGMC.

Somebody please go to these seats in section 5, row three on the night of the concert and pose the following question:
"What did the five fingers say to the face?" "SLAP!!!!!" I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

What I don't understand is how this guy knows where the seats are. I assume he bought them through the npgmc presale since both presales, for the la shows, sold out. And since the npgmc doesn't tell you where your seats are, I'm guessing this guy could be full of shit.

So far 26 people have bid on these tickets and one idiot is gonna get them for well over $1000. I mean, that's a fucking computer right there. I just hope this person is rich and can afford to throw money away like that. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

Moderator | I talked with some folks yesterday at the streetpainting festival who were hard core fans who spend a LOT of money on boots. I walked over to meet them because they were playing some boots on a portable stereo, so I figured, I just HAD to go chat with em.
They had no idea that prince had a website or the club, or the discounted ticket prices, whatever. It's those people that will spend this kinda flow for tickets. All Rights Reserved. |

A couple of years ago I had a pair of tix to a Jimmy Buffet show and something came up that prevented me from going. I didn't want them to go to waste so I put them on e-bay and started the bidding below face value which was $120. I went out of town for a few days and when I checked the auction again they were up to $700. Ended up with $850. They were pretty decent seats but that's just insane. I accepted the money of course. It funded my 2 ONA shows the next spring!

to think - some suggested Prince couldn't still sell tickets. Not only did he sell out the staples center in 15 minutes, now people are paying over $1k to see his show. Check out this guy's other ebay links
http://www.stores.ebay.co...edisplay=2 he auctions off tickets to lots of events - the Prince tickets are going for more money than any of them - even though there's now another show at the staples center - it's about sold out too.

Pretty cool though - to be a hard core fan - and not know about the website and all the computer hype about Prince. I remember how much more I enjoyed his music - when I wasn't aware of all the hype that tries to get in the way of just music. . .

With this new version of the club being a member does not guarantee 3rd row seats. As I have read in Hawaii there were many members sitting randomly behind non-members as far back as 15 rows behind non-members. If you do a net search you you will see that the ticket brokers have great seats for all the shows and the seller on this auction is a broker. As far as I can tell this is why the Member tickets are selling out so fast because Prince isn't getting as many tickets as he used to. I would also assume this is the reason for the "In the round" tour although in my opinion that just means your ticket is only 1/4 as good. . So how do people feel about the fact that brokers are getting better tickets then members? [This message was edited Mon Mar 1 10:20:54 2004 by lovemachine]

. Sadness is this, folks. Prince and his organization do not have access to 100% of the tickets at the venues. There are people on the inside of the venues who run things, people who know people, etc. who can pull out tickets here and there. Its just a pipe dream to think that P can nail down 100% of the tix in the "Best 2 sections" and that none will leak out. People are people and we're talking about so many venues, booking agencies, etc. It will happen. I bet dimes to donuts the tix are legit. There are holes in the system. So be it. I admire what Prince is trying to do to control the unauthorized preselling/reserving of premium tickets. That's cool. But it will never be 100% successful. Can't let it get you down.

But that is not a fair deal. It means the people who've actualy put all the hard work into the event aren't making anything out of it. Of course aritsts could charge more for their tickets but they set them at a price to make them affordable to us, the fans. if some bastard buys them all up and charges the world then the real fans get left out in the cold and the tickets go to some wealthy lawyer who heard his secretary say she quite liked Prince's greatest hits album and he thinks he can lay her if he buys them. Here in the UK, some particularly popular tickets (like festials and Radiohead) have no resale conditions and if you put your tickets on ebay, they get cancelled and become null & void. In fact, this year Glastonbury and selling them from one website & one phone number, it's debit cards only (no credit cards) and only 2 tickets per person. This is because of a thing called 'fairnes'. "You know, you're the classic example of the inverse ratio between the size of the mouth and the size of the brain"

someone may have said this already....but on Leno, didn't P say that doing it this way (in the round..and they compared it to Lovesexy) means "that everyone will have a good seat". Something like that. It seems he knows that members will get good seats...even if they are "behind" the stage. Christian Zombie Vampires
