I attended the taping of the ELLEN show today and does anyone find it interesting he performed "BAMBI" on her show?
With the lyrics of this song being what they are, does anyone think he purposely sent a message through his music to the target audience of this show. I just found it to be a very interesting choice of song for this particular show. Almost borders on disrespectful to ELLEN if it was an intentional shot at her life style.

01) The Tavis Smiley show with Wendy Melvoin; 02) Elton John's Annual Post-Oscars AIDS fundraising party; 03) The Ellen Show. Do you think that these were all conscious decisions to let his gay fans know that his religious beliefs aren't as stringent as we had previously believed? Is it just coincidence? I think Prince is just trying to connect with an AUDIENCE - any audience, as long as it fills those big arenas he's playing. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

(For being themselves? WTF?) So it was a big deal when he showed up on that show with Wendy. And for him to go from his former stance to appearing on a show with an openly lesbian host is pretty significant. It's my hope that he is falling out of his lockstep with the JW's and following his own moral compass.
Prince has always acknowledged the fluidity of sexuality in his lyrics and his lifestyle, and that naturally appealed to many queer fans. His association to the JW church (with a homophobic doctrine more severe than most Christian denominations) and Larry Graham, especially after Graham's offensive "Adam and Steve" comments at a Rainbow Children listening party, left many gay fans feeling like they didn't recognize their favorite artist anymore. But whether he's had sincere change of heart or is just looking at the bottom line, it seems clear he is trying to reconnect with a significant portion of his fan base that he alienated. U can bet yo ass that if I'd been there and that had been said, I would've stood up and confronted him over it - not so much over the statement itself, but becuase of the way he laughed heartily at what he said, and belittling such an issue therefore insulting any gay members present - i KNOW of at least one that was there that day too. He was not best impressed, and increadibly saddend by the reaction this statement provoked within the assembled group that day. Prince as ever, retained a dignified silence on the issue. I think there's been a lot of finger-pointing, but I still have faith that even with his new-found faith, Prince still holds true 2 his 'live and let live' dogma. I agree with what someone said on this thread about Prince is starting 2 find his own spiritual compass within the Jehovah Witnesses - this is what I hoped. Im glad he's happy - all I ever wanted was to know was that he is still capable of steering his OWN ship. [This message was edited Wed Mar 3 2:53:45 2004 by bananacologne]

Out of many public appearances over the last few weeks, three of those appearances have been linked to gay people.
01) The Tavis Smiley show with Wendy Melvoin;
She's an ex band member & an important one. I'd bet $ his reasons for reconnecting w/ her (however briefly) are far deeper than her sexual orientation... 02) Elton John's Annual Post-Oscars AIDS fundraising party;
The man may have hit several parties that night. Even if he only went to Elton's why would he descriminate or choose the party simply because of the sexuality of the host??? That's so lame! 03) The Ellen Show.
Ellen has a "hot" talk show right now - why wouldn't he go on? He'd be silly not to... Do you think that these were all conscious decisions to let his gay fans know that his religious beliefs aren't as stringent as we had previously believed? Is it just coincidence?
Pure coincidence. It's like asking if he's turning his back on Blacks b/c he did Ellen instead of Oprah. You're thinking too much - just enjoy the appearances & hope he doesn't say/do anything too stupid Also, singing "Bambi" on Ellen is probably just the jokester in him. I don't think it's an insult at all...

I beleive Prince has his own Ideas about how this world should function and he probably JW is a pretty good base, but I beleive he thinks a whole lot ahead of the JW, therefoe incorperates his own ideas, about history, his diet just examples
