In the round... Not to be a drag. But I caught the Lovesexy tour in the round.... I was about 5 rows on the side of the stage, and I barely caught a straight on view. I hope they hook it up in way that's advantageous for the club. [This message was edited Sun Feb 29 2:32:32 2004 by cracknbush] cracknbush

The stage set-up for Lovesexy was kind of goofy because they had to accomodate the Thunderbird. Hopefully the stage will be less cumbersome this time.
The T-Bird was a sweet entrance, though... If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I agree that 'in the round' shows can be problematic. Personally, I didn't think that the
Lovesexy show was particularly successful as an 'in the round' performance. The show itself was great, but the stage layout still very much had a 'front' and a 'back'. This meant that Prince tended to gravitate towards one section of the audience all the time, and the people at the 'back' spent most of the concert looking at his back.

I was glad to see this concert in Rotterdam (soccer-stadium) there the stage was set up at one side of the field, so the public was just on one side. Saw the show on tv later in the round. I guess you will feel lik u r always on the wrong side of the stage.

I'm not so sure about this 'in the round' business. Prince is still one hellava performer, granted, but he ain't doing a 'show' like he used to (Parade Tour, Lovesexy, Sign, etc)....
So why bother... he'd be just as good at one end of the arena for the tye of shows he does now...dontcha think..?

In The Round isn't too bad if you are up close but still in the stands. If you are on the floor (which one would think of as the best seats) You might find it kinda poopy. I saw Peter Gabriel in the round this year, as well as The Lovesexy Tour and they were both excellent. All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.
