Chaos and Disorder v. the Vault

I realize that both of these albums were contractual obligations Prince had to perform for WB, but I happen to think that both have some pretty funky songs. What about you?
Strange, but I'm more comfortable around you naked.

Agreed.

Right the Wrong is supposedly the worst abomination ever according to many...but I LOVE it. Brilliant, weird little track...sounds like it wasn't meant for public release...but he was still putting effort into it, it was for himself....unfortunately that disc is marred by I rock, therefore... and some awful Jamaican-style rapping. "I Will" is basically a rewrite of Gold, and I like it much better...

The Vault was the best album released post-95, EASY, in my opinion...not dissing any of the fantastic albums that were released in that period, but this one is HOTT. Just wish it could be about twice as long...and maybe an alternate bonus track of the original Old Friends 4 Sale?

Ass like a fine-cut diamond
Mounted on 2 legs of stone
A prison I could do some time in
If I ever got that ass alone

Every song on The Vault is wonderful. Some of the songs on Chaos are the poopie.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Anxiety

I'm a big fan of Chaos & Disorder - the only song I'm not crazy about is "I Rock Therefore I Am", and even that one has its moments. It's angry, loopy, idiosynchratic and there's guitar all over it. If it didn't have such an ugly-ass cover, it mighta even gone somewhere.

I love both Chaos & Disorder and The Vault. Prince seriously has to get his head out of his arse and start releasing more vault material. Preferably good vault material. C & D was the first Prince album I heard and I was amazed at the great guitar work. The Vault (which if memory serves me came out a few months before Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic) was great to hear. Good mix of pop and jazz and MUCH better than New Power Soul!

Chaos takes this one, but only by a nose. IMO Chaos is the precurser to so many of the Rock acts of today ie The Strokes, White Stripes, Jet etc. Chaos came out when the world was under the spell of Hip Hop. It was raw and guitar driven when the rest of the world were fixated on two turntables and a microphone. Just now, 9 yeras later (OMG has it really been that long?) has the music world caught up to Prince. I don't care what anyone says, that guy is lightyears ahead of his time and always will be.
All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.
