P on Leno: Ooooooohh Got-DAMMM, it's good to be alive!! I am jumping up and down with glee and anticipation. I'll never say another cross word. I swear. He looks fanTAStic and those heels are not standard-issue JW, thass fo sho. And I fuckin' loved Musicology....kick-ass song, nice groove, about funky music....good lyrics, lotsa great instrumentation...prince was tight on all the vocals, like back in the day, like a live studio recording, but much more liberal on the footwork than during the ONA show I saw and the DVD....wow, I gotta go watch that.
"Reflection" with Wendy and now this, back to back. I can't remember EVER seeing two kick-ass performances back-to-back like that. Oh shit, and the Grammies were bad-ass too. Jesus. It's like he's showing those goddamn naysayers after all. Fuck yeah man, bring it on!!!! No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

It was very good, but for some reason (and this is the opposite of how I usually feel) I kinda liked the feel of the studio version better than tonight's live version. If I want your opinion, I'll beat it outta ya!

Man , Prince was slammin!
I also loved the part where he jabbed at Mel Gibson's lame movie, "Wanna go see a movie?" or something, that was hilarious! The only bad part was where that ugly fat guy got up and waddled around with the Chinese girl hitting the tamborione. Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. The suit was HOT, the hair was SLAMMIN', and the
performance was BUMPIN'...and, he was funny to boot....DAYUM! I didn't like it as much as Watchthemfall, few will, but, it was 1000X's better than that Grammy performance Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I thouht it was totally awesome!!! I can't wait for the tour!!
His suit and the entire band seemed 2 coordinate. The music was incredible!!

I'm blown away! That performance was...I can't even explain. Prince looked sharp as a tack in that suit. He was all over the stage, and danced his ass off the stage too. Rhonda looked fine as usual, so did RAD. The band overall, kicked ass. Prince is truely telling the haters to kiss his ass! I'm glad it's about time. This concert is going to be off the chain! I wanna buy my tickets right now!
Mel Gibson, looked a little and Dont know what his problem was. The anticipation is overwhelming! Great damn show! Blue musicology that is... ::Official member of the 1978- infinity Club:: [This message was edited Thu Feb 26 22:02:24 2004 by TheBluePrince] Blue

You think Prince, the Jesus Freak, was criticizing Mel's "Lame" movie? "New Power slide...."

Prince just seems like, well, "Prince" this last year or so...like he's comfortable being who he is. He has aged incredibly well, not just phyically, but from a style and sound standpoint. Playing with this band on the ONA tour has brought him back to being the great bandleader that he is, and away from the loops and fads that dogged him for 10 years, between psedo-rap and commercial pandering, I think taking up the cause for real musicianship is just what he should be doing.
Tonight Prince was fun and funky, and that's what I love - What can I say, after all these years, the guy just makes me happy. To watch him do what he does is as sood as it gets.... I think Prince, this band, and the tone of this tour are gonna mesh beautifully - I can smell the vibe, can't you??! See y'all there...

Yeah, when the fat guy started dancing, I was just like "WTF? Who's this asshole?", but the rest of the performance was just awesome.
I gained new appreciation for the song after hearing it in full (and I like the studio version even more), and Prince was just smooth as hell. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

DAMN-FUNKY!!!! >>>the joint of the moment: LCD Soundsystem - 'Yeah' (all 3 versions) DFA Baby!!! <<< . .

This was my first time hearing the song Musicology.
The shit is funky. My expectations were so low after reading feedback of the song here on the org. The bass line is funky as hell. I heard somebody on here say he needs to get off the james brown thing or something like that. The James Brown influence did not just pop up with Sexy MF. It's been there as early as sexy dancer. James being one of his biggest influence's and a big part of Prince's sound, he pays homage in a good way, and we need some old school shit like that in this day and time. He has such a presence even when being cool, that taking his clothes off and grinding his guitar is not necessary. Tite performance

No. Do some research on JW's , they may be alot of things, but they ain't "Jesus freaks".
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yes, JW's are actually very laid back and respectful.
Annoying? Uh huh. But they're not obsessed cult freaks. Anyway, who cares, Prince was awesome tonight. I couldn't stop grinning the whole time. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

The only bad part was where that ugly fat guy got up and waddled around with the Chinese girl hitting the tamborione. First of all, Mel Gibson's movie may be alot of things, but "lame" is surely not one of them. Secondly, if you think that Prince was taking a "jab" at Mel Gibson, then that doesn't say much for your observational skills. You might want to replay that interview again. Prince repeatedly acknowledged Gibson and seemed to have respect for him (he even directed the audience's applause towards Gibson at one point). Your take on this is sort of strange. Whatever... it was another great TV appearance by the man.

Just new and addin my 2 cents.
Because of Prince's JW belifs..he don't like mel's movie. As Much as I am a constant fan of Prince... It was a low class move. If he wants to debate theology then do that respectfully. I know that some on this site don't like the passion, I respect those opinions. I just think that P was being a jerk. Plus I can't get into his new elitist music pillosophy. He talks about JMJ in Muzakology... JMJ would be just another un-schooled non educated musician to P ...if he wasn't alredy a legend. SNSL

This one is growing on me. 2nd, I didn't see the "diss" either. I thought Prince was just playing around with Gibson. But I didn't notice any disrespect. U guys are looking too much into this.

Yeah, there was no dig at all. He was just being all playful and laid back, poking fun at the controvery the movie's caused Mel.
You dig? The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Aren't perspectives and opinions incredible?? It's 2:15 here in TO and I can't sleep so here are mine:
There was no way Prince was dissin' Mel. He was just joking around with him; like,'Hey Mel, what have you been up to lately?' fully knowing exactly the storm he(Mel) finds himself in. I haven't seen the movie yet but do you really think that Prince would be against it? Frankly, I think Prince would love the movie. A movie based on the bible. (Geez, he probably wishes he had directed it.) I was certain that at the end of the perfomance when he said something like "this is a public service announcement" that he was gonna endorse the movie and tell everyone to go see it. Now, as for the performance, it was good. Still can't hear a real catchy hook. But that's cool. Sometime no hook is better than an embarassing one - see Hot Wit U. I remember reading somewhere that Prince felt strongly that every album with a great name needed a strong title track. In this sense, it reminded me of Emancipation. Good song, but really a difficult word to kinda do anything with. The horns in the chorus reminded me of another song. Help here please. If anyone's dedicated enough to print the lyrics, I thank you in advance. I think it's Jam Master JAM. And he wasn't dissin' him or Chuck D. Any other rapper than them, then yes, he may have been dissin'. The conversation at the end of the performance was fine enough. Best line: in recognition of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, "I guess I kinda feel..old." That was cool. Overall impression: good but not really impressed. Frankly, the whole Old School theme is too apparent for me. I dig the retro stuff but gee I hope Musicology contains some good new stuff. More TRC less NEWS, More The Truth, less NPS, More Gold Experience, less Rave.... As a reference, here are my 15 favorite Prince songs in no particular order(at this moment in time) This author reserves the right to change his mind: The Ballad of Dorothy Parker One of your Tears Kiss The Beautiful Ones If I was your Girlfriend Strange Relationship Forever in my Life Adore Gett Off P Control When you were mine Take Me with You Something in the Water Raspberry Beret The Exodus has begun Like I said, opinions and perspectives are incredible things. Good luck Prince! I'll see ya at the concert. J.

just watched the performance, i cant believe ho wmental the crowd were for that song, i dont think ive seen them go that nuts! how many were NPGMC members!!!
as for the whole dissing mel thing, god i really dont see it. at worst i think basically p made a little joke saying wanna go catch a movie, and mel just sorta laughed and went yeah ok! and the whole, what you doing after the show? dancing i guess! mel was more relaxed than i got the impression on here. just my two cents! plus were the horns doing little samples of "the work"? sounded liek it!, the bti lik,e, everbody do the work! bit
