The 'Musicology' Facts from the Hollywood Reporter Today

Nice photo and article on what was confirmed at Press Confrence:

'Royal return: Prince preps album, tour'
By Tamara Conniff

Prince plans to hit the road for a world tour and is shopping his new album, "Musicology", to all the major labels, he said tuesday during a news conference in Los Angeles.

The news comes on the heels of his successful opening performance with Beyonce during this months Grammy's.

The tour, which will officially kick off March 29th at Staples Center in Los Angeles (though some predates are expected), will be held in the round and feature new music as well as some of the singer's best known hits. Prince said older songs will be done in a "new way" and that this is likely to be the last time he will perform older tunes.

No label deal has been struck for "Musicology". Prince said he wishes all 5 of the majors would jointly distribute it, though he admitted the idea might sound a little "crazy". When pressed, the singer said he would consider signing with one label.

Prince also said he'd like to give free CD's to all fans who purchase concert tickets for the North American tour as a reward for their dedication. He will also offer "Musicology" tracks for download from his NPG Music Club Wb site. Club members will pay 77 cents a song, while nonmembers will be charged 99 cents.

Prince will be induced into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame on March 16 in New York.
