Watching Prince and Wendy perform Reflection.... has made me relive my love for the man's music. i'm gonna get a bit gooey here but that performance made realize that he is truly a remarkable musician.
watching made me believe that there is still (not like it ever disappeared) life in Prince and his craft. i'm so glad that he did this with Wendy cuz it shows maturity on his part. the performace in my opinion was really heart felt. there was magic there that we don't get to see that close up usually. even in concert or at an aftershow, you don't get to see small bits of magic like that. thanks Prince and Wendy.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. I've heard Reflection about a zillion times. Hearing it yesterday made me shed a little tear. Especially this part of the song; '...that , uh, when bodies wear out, we can get another what does that one thing have to do with the other one? I don't know. I was just thinking about, my mother...' That lyric made this big black dude cry, Prince always' gets me. Blue [This message was edited Sat Feb 21 19:10:06 2004 by TheBluePrince] Blue

I agree with all your comments. It was great seeing Prince and Wendy back together again.
But what really caught my attention was Wendy always looking at Prince (still) for direction. Like old habits die hard. Truly a wonderful moment indeed. **************************************************

Watching that on Thursday was one of the most surreal things I've seen this year. All I could do was smile while watching cause I've wanted to see something like this for a long time. I can't wait to see what's in store for this year. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

That was a great performance of Reflection...very heartfelt. Wendy was a bit superflous and really didn't need to be there, but I guess he threw some of his fans a bone, considering they adore her so much.
But Prince was great and I agree that it was a nice song and performed very well.

Blue [This message was edited Sat Feb 21 19:10:06 2004 by TheBluePrince] The reference to his mother has always been in the song. But you're right it was a very touching moment..... During the performance it did seem to bring it up front and with the presence of Wendy. It made the emotions all that stronger....

Well, Prince is putting his best foot forward to right the wrongs with the friends he may have lost touch with.... It feels good when an old friend comes to life and it feels right and fits like a glove.... That never leaves you. Emotions can travel time in decades and thru the mindseye. Hundreds of miles and centuries.....

2 sevens together, like time, indefinite, try to catch the glass before it falls, without a frown, can you turn up the stereo? I wanna play you this old song, it's about love, can I do that? Did we remember to water the plants today? I forgot to look up at the moon because I was too busy, yes, I was too busy, too busy looking at you, oh, baby, still, it's nice to know that, uh, when bodies wear out, we can get another, what does that one thing have to do with the other one? I don't know, i was just thinking about my mother, you know what? Turn the stereo back down, ain't nothing worse than an old, worn-out love song, do you like my hair this way? Remember all the way back in the day when we would compare whose afro was the roundest? Mirrored tiles above the bed, fishnets and posters all over the walls, oh, yeah, sometimes I just wanna go out, you know what I mean, playing my guitar, just watch all the cars go by... Like I said in another Thread: It takes my breath away just to see the pic of the two together. Just to feel the chemestry that they express here is a gift for that we should be thankful. I would give a lot If I was able to see their performance. Thanx a lot for sharing this with us! -----------------------------------------

I never really liked that song, but watching them perform it definately added another dimension - it suddenly seemed incredibly personal.
Looking at the lyrics, it's written in a way that reminds me of the later Kate Bush songs, the way it flickers from one thought to another without exploring it fully, and suggests things without being specific. Like, does anyone know what these lines mean: "2 sevens together, like time, indefinite, try to catch the glass before it falls, without a frown" The end is very abrupt, finished almost mid-thought. It's certainly not your tradionally written type of pop song! So why do you think Prince chose to do this new, personal song on a tv show, over everything else he could have done? It is very rare he sits down and does an acoustic number ever, never mind on a tv show. Prince doesn't usually lay his heart on his sleeve like this. I think it just goes to show this is going to be a very retrospective year for Prince, looking back and assessing his life perhaps?

i thought the performance was great just seeing them playing together... and the way wendy was looking at prince during the performance.....when the fishnets and posters on the wall happenes...look at her looking at him .....it was a great reunion...in a perfect forum where p was able to play what he wanted (opposed to having to play something on primetime...like im sure might be the case on jay leno this week)

To quote Daunte in "Clerks", - "27 Dicks?" "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.

How much of this renewed love for Prince is based on the great song that he wrote, played, and sang or that Wendy was there? Did he suddenly get better by sharing the stage with Wendy?
