Suggestion -Write something catchy! I think now's the time. If our little pal ever wants to break free from the minimal selling little fan cult albums and go for the comeback - now is the time. At the moment we are in the inevitable 80's revival phase, where his old stuff is starting to influence new acts. Now he should take advantage.
Does anyone else agree that one of his specialty pop tunes would strike gold right now. Or is it me being optimistic? -----------------------------------------

I think that his attempts at pure pop sounded light-weight after the Revolution went their way.

I really do think sumthing liek "anna stesia" would do really well in all charts, its a really great tone, and children and non prince fans would buy it.
i also think EndorphineMachine would do really well, it's 1 of those tones tht would do great in the charts Keenmeister

Prince was never pure pop. After Revolution had left, he still managed a perfect pop tune like I Wish U Heaven, or even U Got The Look. Catchy, but yet artistic. Pop, but yet unique - which is what has always seperated Prince from the rest. I think a song alomg these lines would cement his growing "comeback" -----------------------------------------

"Raspberry Beret" is pure pop. "Kiss" is pure pop. I love "I Wish U Heaven" but I think its charm is in its production, not in its songwriting. "U Got The Look" is one of the worst songs on Sign O' The Times. It really is inane. There's no other word for it. Its very dated. Any boy-band could cover "17 Days" and they would be guaranteed a top ten hit.

Yeah, good idea! I suggest "Purple Rain pt.2" with a cool rap by Fred Durst and some dancing by Britney. Hell, he could even put in a sample of "I'm A Slave 4 U" to get some of that good old "Minneapolis Sound" in the mix. I bet that would sell like crazy. Again, a very good idea!
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

A pop song which any fool could make a hit out of is Morning Papers, 17 Days isn't a boy band hit. The songs you mention back my argument up. They are catchy pop tunes, but yet have an element of quirkiness in them, something unique, which seperated them when they were released from the drivel which was on offer. It is just this kind of song which is required now. Catchy, unique. And he'll be back. -----------------------------------------

Who would have thought that "Nothing Compares 2 U" would ever be a huge hit? "17 Days" is crying out to be discovered by the general public. I can't see anybody covering "The Morning Papers" except for some Billy Joel or Elton John-type character. And then it would only be on a Rhino re-issue album of unreleased material. I'll admit it, "Space" was a great pop single and it was criminally overlooked by the radio at the time. I can't think of many others though.

On a serious note: indeed only a catchy pop tune could get him back in the top 40. That would only be cool if the song isn't a sellout... RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
