Nooo, what I don't like is the people who come here ONLY to criticize EVERYTHING that Prince does. And what I can't understand is WHY they come here in the first place if their preference is someone else. NOTHING that is said on the org is going to make a particle of difference in the way Prince does ANYTHING! And if those people come here just to piss off those of us who are Prince "fams," you do manage that on occasion.

I believe it's because, in addition to everyone being entitled to their opinion, some people here believe that it is their rightful duty to educate those of us whom they believe are "blind" to the "truth" about who and what Prince really is, and they will not rest until they have told us, at least once a day, that we're blind because we love every little thing Prince does. I mean, simple little things, like, Prince's cover of betcha by golly wow...some people here have actually suggested that those of us who like that cover have something wrong with us. Imagine that. Even still are those who are what I like to call "music snobs" because either they're older than us and have grown up with the greats, and according to them, no matter what Prince does, could never hold a candle to them, no matter how he tries (if he even tried at all), or their entire lives are wrapped up in listening to music and well by golly, they just know MORE than us, and it is only their pleasure to remind us of it every second of every day. biggrin They don't like Prince, but their here to remind US that they dont like him, and they're here becuase they want to remind us WHY they dont like him. And that's cool, I guess...because at the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their opinions...right? But I've learned, that the best thing you can do to a know-it-all, who flaunts his opinions as facts, is to remind him that those are just that...opinions...usually they hate when you do that, because as I said, they're pleasure is to "educate" us, with their "extensive" knowledge of rock and roll history, and LORD it over the rest of us poor souls who don't know a thing...

just my two cents. biggrin

I like him! big grin

MY thang is that there are a suprising amount of fans on the org (not all, but a noticable majority) who can't seem 2 grasp the fact that it's all RELATIVE, and that Prince ISNT infallible.

EVen tho I (personally) didnt think the Grammy performance was up 2 scratch, I do think that the end result of all the publicity he gained from it turned it in2 a GOOD thing.

So, that's cool.

I just wanted to add that, I suppose Prince is partly to blame (maybe mostly even) for this stigma that has been attached to those of us fans who like most or everything that he has done. Because of the cultish nature of his fan club, and his website, those of us who really like a song, say like betcha by golly wow, get attacked because of it, and we're painted as these brainwashed people. Well, I'm not saying that that is not always the case, but that's also an unfair assessment, for the simple reason that, you don't know who is who. If you've never seen me, or don't know me, never seen my record collection, you can't assume that I'm brainwashed because I say that "like everything prince does". You don't even know that I'm a member of the club unless I tell you (I am, btw). And furthermore, I fail to see what the real harm is in someone believing that Prince hung the moon. I'm not saying it's not ok to remind someone that Prince didnt do everything first, but that there's no reason to be mean about it.

No, I don't. They are entitled to an opinion just as much as the rest of us. It's the way they feel about Prince's current musical output.

No, if that's what they truly think, fine with me.

I just hate the "fams" that act as if everyone else has to like everything he does. You know, the ones that tell you you're "not a true fan", or tell you "if you don't like it get out", or tell you why you're here and that deep down you really like NEWS.

On the other side of the coin, I don't like the "fams" that bitch and whine and act as if Prince is on this planet to satisfy their every need.

But, then, of course, I strongly dislike anyone who calls themself a "fam"

To look at something objectively never hurt anybody, the indication of the word "fam" being that they do not look objectively at Prince's output.

If you feel that you are being objective in your evaluation of his music, then you are not a fam, i.e. you can make up your own mind about whether you like it simply because because you really like it. biggrin

If you like it simply because Prince made it - therefore it is good - then you are not being objective and you are a fam. biggrin

One is also a fam if somebody criticises Prince's music and one takes that as a personal insult. biggrin

I agree with all of this.

My point is, sometimes you cannot tell whether a person likes everything Prince does just because he made it...how do you know for sure?

If that person thinks that Prince hasn't made one single bad song - particularly following WB - then that is a fairly good indication, I think. biggrin

so, if a person loves everything Prince did after he left WB, that's an indication that he doesnt think for himself? Why can't it be that that person just happens to like everything Prince did? I mean, he honestly likes it, he has no ulterior motive, he's not trying to impress anyone...he just really likes Chaos & Disorder. lol I mean, even if you think his taste in his post WB work is weird, it could very well be that he or she really does like that stuff.

What if someone comes along, who doesnt know anything about the NPGMC, or the Org, or being a "fam" and he posts on here for the first time and says that he likes "everything". And he gets called brainwashed, but he had no idea about any of the stuff that happened before he became an Orger. So then he gets confused and goes "well where did this come from?" Do you see what I mean? you have no way of knowing, most of the time.

I try and be objective and tell it as i see it. I love Prince, but let's be honest, he has released some turkeys over the years as well as lots of fantastic stuff.

I can not take people that refer to themselves as 'fams' or use excessive princebonics seriously at all.Stupid fucking sheep. 2's and U's are OK though.

OPh and yes I am a FAM, but I say that about ALL the artists that I love, and no I dont like EVERYTHING about them. What the fuck I look like blasting "Jughead" or "The Flow" in my car? Or even alsot of Emancipation..I didnt like Interactive, I dont like She Gave Her Angels, I hated Grafitti Bridge, and Under The Cherry Moon was boring.

Now for ur got damn information again...i dont like being mocked so take ur fuckin eraserhead behind and roll your eyes back in your head and turn the other direction, and dont let the door hit ya ass on the way out. Got damn.
