Nothing really bold about either. Prince's pants were a bit safer because of the forum. Janet's boob is hardly a bold move. The hub-bub occured because she chose to reveal it, for reasons that should be fairly obvious, at the halftime show of the Super Bowl.

Ok basically - someone else asked me this same question - here's my answer -

The ass out pants came on late and the pre-arranged boob incident came on earlier. My main question is - why people have to act like it wasn't planned.

Basically, if it wouldn't have caused any negative publicity - then everyone would take credit. But since folks got all bent outta shape at something that half the viewing audience missed the first time around anyway - folks is trying to act like they didn't know about it. Please MTV who produced the show for CBS are both owned by Viacom - they knew what was going on.

I mean you don't wear a big nipple ring just in case for nothing!

Janet's move wasn't bold, It was just something that happened. I really don't think she mean't for the stunt to go that far. Everyone has seen a boob, kids, adults, grandparents, i mean hell, everyone! I just don't see what is so shocking when kids saw the stunt on television. I mean, Kids had one on one experiences with the "titty". A lot were breast fed and some, even walked in on their mom when they were dressing, come on peeps.

If Janet owned up to the flash and said, "yeah I did it on purpose, so what?" Then we'd have a discussion. The way it is with all the denials, apologies and excuses.. it's just too muddy to call it bold.
