how many people have seen prince in concert? im taking about a rough overall number, he must be up there with the most seen performers of all time considering how much he has toured over the years and his appeal as a live performer has always been strong.
someone will know all his tour details but i would say at a rough guess...ooohh...25 million people...and i think thats underselling him. so who has the info?

You think Prince tours alot? Damn he went years without touring in the 90's and some 80's tours like SOTT were very short. These days he plays in front of very small crowds so I just don't think it could approach 25,000,000.
I would guess closer to 10 million. BTW Bob Dylan tours a lot. [This message was edited Tue Feb 10 19:12:13 PST 2004 by lovemachine]

twice for me once at Jones Beach and once at Madison Square Garden, it was great seeing him the first time at Jones Beach because other than that I'd only seen him on my TV so when he finally came to the stage he rode in from the water on a speedboat. I almost cryed and you know I'm too cool for that so I had to hide it from my sisters cause they were laughing at me, we really enjoyed the show, my sisters were laughing already because there was a guy behind us and we were having a little show-down I'd sing along with the Prince songs that was playing while the sound check guys were setting up and then he'd try and top whatever I sung it was so funny but it was cool. The second time was at Madison Square here in NYC. A friend of mind knew that I had like Prince's music and he supprised me with tickets and bought me some stuff from the show afterwards he had gotten us pretty good seats too, I guess he was trying to impress me because he liked me but anyways, eventhough I enjoyed both shows Prince kept on bringing out song after song and by the end of the night my hands were swollen from claping so hard, I barely had a voice and I was more than ready to sleep. I had to get up and walk around just for a break and there was no intermission time yall! And you know I'd do it again in a heart beat. I'm just a junky for the sound.

He doesn´t ask how ofte YOU have seen Prince but how many people in the world have seen Prince live in concert. I would say about 5 Million.
By the way, I´ve seen him six times in concert See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

The number of different people who've seen him will of course be a lot lower than the sum of concert attendances. I haven't got the faintest clue what either figure is.
But my figure's 5. | |

It would be a major project to accurately determine how many people have seen Prince. Assuming you managed to get every tour date he's played, you'd then need to know either the ticket sales figures for each one, or the official venue capacities and make a guess from that at ticket sales. Then there's the aftershows, it would take forever to gather the audience figures for all of them. Not a job for me anyway.
25 million may not be that far off the mark though. Bear in mind that you would only need to fill a 72,000 capacity stadium 14 times to have reached a million people. I don't really have a clue if Prince would have played to that many people but it seems reasonable enough. He has played to some huge crowds over the years. Having said that, I'm not sure he'd be among the most seen performers either. If you consider that bands like U2 and the Stones regularly play to huge capacity crowds, and have done for years, I don't think Prince is (or ever was) in the same league. What about Bob Dylan or David Bowie, who still play to huge crowds, and sell out every time. Then you've got bands like Aerosmith and Grateful Dead who toured pretty much constantly for decades. I reckon Prince would never reach the same number of people, even if he played every day from now until he's 90. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Imagine how much money he made touring!

I saw him in NYC 2 years ago when he was at Avery Fisher Hall The day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom - Anais Nin
