1st grammy Aftershow review!

Source>housequake.org

I'm both exhausted and wired from the show. My first Prince aftershow, and god, it was something. Especially since I paid $200 from a scalper for the honor (tix went as high on the street as $350). I can't recount an entire set list, but it seems to have been much like the second Vegas show last week, with some of the first night thrown in - and a hell of a lot more. 2 1/2 plus hours, with extended jams of DMSR, Everlasting Now, and countless others. The band played a 5 minute instrumental of Beautiful Ones before Prince even came out, at which point the song nearly started over, giving a nearly-full rendition. Other songs included an instrumental jam of America, SOTT, U Got the Look, Controversy, I feel 4 You, Nothing Compares to U, Shhh (which opened the show and was astonishing, especially for someone who's never been a massive fan of the song - it was like rediscovering it), Pass the Peas, Soul Man an amazing blues riff with Prince joking about being in bed with someone, as they both wonder who's got the bad breath, and others. Oh, and of course he pulled out some post-Grammy Purple Rain from Take Me With U to Purple Rain itself. There were so many encores that it almost seemed like he'd go all night. He played with the audience a lot too, repeatedly telling people that he "had to go", only to jam for another 20 minutes and 2 encores.

What more can one say? The man is unparalleled. As an avid concert goer in many genres, I'm not positive I can annoint this as the greatest show I've ever seen, but without question it was the most remarkable display of showmanship and musicianship I've ever witnessed in person. It hurt my wallet, but it was worth every penny.

I stood in line for maybe 3 hours. Had many offers to buy my ticket (up to $350). But i was as close to the stage as possible. and let me say, he was sweeet!!! I will never forget it!!! I love his baby blue guitar. He was dressed to kill!!! white pants ( got of shot of his goodies, ladies if you know what i mean)and those shoes, man they where sharp. He was happy, filled with energy and ready to please the crowd. My favorite part was when he sang "the questions of u"...damn...thank you Prince, once again for a great performance!!!
