Howard Stern loves Prince I know, most of you are saying "who the fuck cares what Howard Stern thinks" but since we're allobsessed with reviews and media praise, read on:
Stern was the only media outlet I witnesses actually praising Prince. True nobody said anything negative, but nobody really said anything great. In fact, all I saw was "Beyonce...with prince" as if he was her friggin' guest. Yes, I know she's a hot item and heat transfers from a hot body to a cooler one...but Stern gushed about Prince. I'm gonna paraphrase here but he said it was great to see Prince, and he was getting all emotional about Purple Rain until she canme out and ruined it. He can still sing, play guitar and dance, whereas today's performers can't do any of those together. We finally get to see prince, why did she have to come out and ruin his songs. She has a great voice but let her sing her own songs, let Prince sing his! Robin went on to say she was disappointed she didn't get a good closeup of Prince, she used to love to look at him but she hasn't seen how he's aging, hence the conservative attire. All in all, a great review to a major national audience...if you like that sort of thing.

Yep. surprisingly liberal for such a homophobic, macho type A male. There was a bit you can find online called "howard stern genius.mp3" or something, and he spends a few minutes listing off who he thinks are musical geniuses...inlcuded are Jimi and Prince, but few others.

Howard LOVES Prince!!! I must have 12 audio tapes over the last 10 years and 99.9% of everything he says is how he is amazing.
For a guy who rips on everyone..every moment of a guys show.. Howard never goes off on Prince. He said he is his favorite musican in the last 25 years! ..and his music help him through this divorce! also he got Rebecca Romain Stamos naked in his apartment because of a Prince Album He had his girlfriend Beth & Rebecca dancing naked plus there is a ton of little stories in the news.. but Howard never says anything to bad.. sure he makes a couple jokes but NEVER about his talent or music! Robin said " He is like an Old Friend seeing him again" "It is always a treat to see him play live" [This message was edited Mon Feb 9 15:23:29 PST 2004 by locoarts]

I agree. They were OK together, but I actually got the most excited about the performance *before* Beyonce came onstage and when they busted into "Crazy in Love" (possibly my favorite song of 2003.. I remember the first time I heard it - in a taxi to Toronto this past summer - and I lost my shit, asking the driver to turn it up). I didn't like Beyonce doing PR songs.. she should have done her song, and he do his.

Yes, Howard has always praised Prince's music and talent. He has ragged on him pretty hard for his name change, and style of dress, and other stuff, but that's Howard for you...he's always irritated about something.
But it's always nice to hear Prince getting praised in the media and Howard's show is heard by many millions of people, so that made it even better.

Not just Howard Stern | |
