We're All Friends (& Family) & we all have our Oppinions about P's Music & The Purple Matrix LifeStyle (i like 2 call it). but answer me this... Musicians (like Prince) cre8te their Art 4 themselves & at the same time it's Cre8ted & RUSHED right out 2 us (& we pay 4 it happily or with uncertianty or hesitation). but when P ReLeases an Album or WOrk some people tend 2 think it's not as Good as This or Good as That.

Y is That??? Y r we so Quck 2 say it's CRAP or that was cool now can u make an Album with Lyrics & not just Music e.g. N.E.W.S & Xpectation. r we REALLY able 2 sit there after listenin' 2 an Album & say "P's Fell Off" or "It's a Good Album but the JW refrences have 2 go". what is that? i'm not understanding...

Ultimate level of creativity, art for that matter is said to be reached when one has mastered the skill so thoroughly that it can be forgotten. I think Prince had mastered his popular style years ago to the point of it being quite effortless... but being an artist, he is always looking for something new and maybe more of a challenge to himself, this is when new experimental work such as NEWS doesn't seem quite as finished masterpeices as previous.

But as you pointed out, art will always be figurative and we should not label it. I think that if we understand something or someone, we will like it. If its beyond our simple mind, we'll say that its crap.

I know people that are not Prince fans, but none-the-less are able to appreciate the talent and respect him as an artist.

I don't think Prince's career peek is over. Without movement, nothing could be created. There needs to be ups and downs. I think Prince is in transition right now.

I don't think this really answers your question, I don't know if anything can. Maybe its just in the human nature to judge. Maybe subconsciously it brings gratification for people to criticize. Anyways, those R just my reflections on your observations.
