I think that the Family Jamm show may be released on DVD. The concert was taped on a DAT, and there were several cameras covering the show. Why would she document so much of this if she wasn't planning to come out with a DVD?

Does anyone know any of the camera people who were on stage? That must have been the greatest place to be-ON STAGE FOR THE REUNION OF THE REVOLUTION! I wonder if any of them were real fans?

Did others see the cameramen onstage or was I out of my gord?

That very well may be but I believe they said it was the legal issues that were preventing them from releasing it on dvd. Of course, that could have all changed as well, but I haven't heard myself.

I hope you are right, but this message title is VERY misleading.

As stated here on several threads, there was an official message about a DVD on the Family JAMM website stating there would NOT be a DVD due to legal and financial considerations .

There is now a message asking that people who do sell DVDs donate the proceeds to the LABF organization since this event was specifically for charity. If they were going to release one officially, I doubt they'd have that message.

I hope you're right and something's changed because that way the fans would get an awesome DVD and the LABF would be sure to get the money which would be the best.

If you were paying attention you would have also noticed none of the cameramen filmed an entire song. They were just here and there. Prince is not going to let them license those songs. Stop playing...

Most of the music, if released for sale, would be the property of Warner's and Paisley Park (Prince).

That's the legal battle that would have to be won, just so tens of people could purchase it.

Regarding the cameramen filming the entire song, I thought that cameramen sometimes switch angles and move the camera. That is why shows are shot with several cameras. Am I missing something SERVITUPFRANKIE? Isn't that how cameras and shows and TV work?

There was a reason they shot it. Maybe it was just for Sheila, but they seemed very professional to me. Either way, the people on the stage were super lucky!

One of the cameras was Sheila's sister Zina. She was talking to people during the show as well. It definitely seemed to be more for private use.

I can tell you that there are no plans for a DVD. The cameramen were official and something is being edited together, but it is being edited together for Sheila and her team and not for general release. Two cameramen were actually on the stage during much of the show. I know that there was a team of cameramen and that the rehearsals were videotaped as well.

Hope that helps clear that up.
