I thought I was the only fan to love West. A lot fans who dig NEWS seem to love South. But I think that's just because ofthe funk and the similarities to the Madhouse sound which most folks are already familiar. But I love West... especially the first half of it because of its soulful emotions. I also like the ending of West... very delicate, yet powerful. Along with "East", "West" is my favorite piece on the album. "South" comes third, and "North" would be in 4th place. Renato's piano breakdown is nice tho. "West" is like Herbie Hancock Funk. Man, I must be missing something because I keep listening to it over & over, when I am in different moods & it never grabs me. I don't know if I am cheating myself out of a Great album or ...

i mentioned this before when NEWS first came out.. I love this song.. the solo is so raw, emotional. Listened to it today...
I think this album will gradually grow on people.. It will eventually become considered a classic.. | |

Funny U should say that becuz I see most peeps raving about 'East'. Having said that I do really think N.E.W.S is great and should be given a lot more credit than its recieved. Personally, 1 of my favorite releases by Prince in a long time. | |
