The guy is Victor Spinetti. He had previous film appearances in the Beatles' movies "A Hard Day's Night", "Help!", and "Magical Mystery Tour" back in the 60s, as well as various others. Maybe Prince wanted him in his movie just to try to bring back that campy 60s rock n' roll movie feeling.
His movie roles are listed here: http://movies.go.com/film..._id=195105 As for the other two, who knows? Probably just extras that were needed just so he had some dialogue with someone. NCC2012... your local Trekkie. =/\=

from MTV interview 1985 I: What's the plot, what kind of characters, what kind of music, how many songs, what can we expect? P: It's a French film. It's a black-and-white French film, and ah, she's in it (girlish giggles can be heard). And her name's Emanuelle. did P and the character Katy, have a thing in real life? music is its own reward - Sting

thanks a mary sharon billion!! Nothing to do with 'Prince's camp' - just three characters in the film script played by actors with no known connection with Prince before or after the film, as far as I am aware. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

'Under the Riviera Moon' by Sophie Bramly and Paul Rambali Excerpts from an article in The Face (#74) June 1986 Emmanuelle Sallet had been working as a model in New York when her boyfriend told her about Prince's new movie. Bored with the city and having made little headway in her career, she was about to return to her native France. He had heard about the film that day on MTV. Why not try for it. She thought, Quoi? I'm French! I don't even speak English well enough. What is he going to need a French model for? But her boyfriend urged her on, and she finally called MTV. All they knew was that Prince had a script. It was the umpteenth call that week. She was given the number of Howard Bloom Associates, Prince's New York-based publicists. Except that someone like Prince doesn't normally court publicity. Don't call us, they said. There's nothing happening. Back in France she wrote a letter to steve Fargnoli, Prince's manager and informal creative secretary. She enclosed a picture of herself without make-up and thought no more of it. It had been a mild gamble costing a small stake of enthusiasm. Two months later, early in June '85, she found a message on her answerphone from Fargnoli: CALL BACK! "I'm coming to Paris this weekend and I want to meet you," said fargnoli. It was Friday. She caught a plane back from a job in the provinces to have dinner that evening with them. Fargnoli said he liked the letter she had written he talked about everything except a new movie. Prince didn't say much at all. "What do you think of marriage?" he asked. She shrugged and said she wasn't ready herself. She wondered why Prince had asked her. "I almost got married," he told her, "And now I wonder if I did the right thing ..." Prince lapsed into thoughtful silence. Afterwards they were dancing at Apocalypse: Fargnoli, Prince, his bodyguard Gilbert and his driver. Early that morning Emmanuelle returned to the provinces. She had barely spoken to Prince. Her friends wanted to know what he was like, "I tried to make conversation, but because he doesn't talk very much, it's difficult," she told them afterwards. "I don't want to appear foolish by saying I like your records. That was what I wanted to tell him. I wanted to talk to him like any other guy. He replied in the same casual way and it wasn't very interesting, except to prove he was normal." It had been an enjoyable evening, but she was puzzled and disappointed that no-one had said anything about the film, not even the title. Two months later she was invited for dinner again. This time there were more people there, including Mary Lambert, who had directed videos for Madonna. "We're going to give you a part," said Fargnoli. Butt we don't know which one yet." A few weeks later she heard that she would be playing Katie, a concierge in the block where Prince lives: the second female lead in Under The Cherry Moon. ... At his rented home in Nice where, in tennis clothes and sneakers he taught her to play drums for her part in the film, Emmanuelle found Prince less of an enigma. "He's very patient and very understanding. Once you gain his confidence, he's very talkative and gives everything away. But he has to be sure first that he can trust you. I never saw any of the tantrums or star turns that people talked about. The Prince I saw was very gracious: getting his car for me when i was cold, explaining scenes for me when I was nervous about ... I had done rehearsals with Mary Lambert but in the end it made no difference because Prince was deciding everything. He gave me a lot of confidence by explaining what he wanted with incredible precision. "There's a level of his personality that I never read about in the press. Those stories about him allowing Christians on the set were never true. It's true that he says Grace before his evening meal. That was neat! But at home, not in restaurants. I wanted to laugh at first. I thought it odd in a rock and roll star. Then I was touched." ... Shooting finished on Under The Cherry Moon at the end of November. For Kristen Scott-Thomas and Emmanuelle Sallet, this adventure was over. Prince had left saying only a vague goodbye, as though he expected to see them again the next day. In a way. Emanuelle wasn't surprised. She had become used to the manner in which he would concentrate on whatever he was doing. With nothing much to do herself, she decided to drop by the Studio de la Victorine where, with a huge crew that had arrived from the US, prince was shooting videos for his new album, "Parade". From the soundstage, he saw her despondent look and told her, "Hurry up and put a dress on." She donned a long black evening dresss and a coat trimmed with fox fur. As the cameras rolled and Prince and the Revolution played, she danced with the other dancers. Then she pushed them away, took off her fur coat and danced alone. It was a good way to end a modern fairytale. --- That's about as much as has been written about her encounter with Prince, as far as I am aware. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Stephen Berkoff was last seen in a BBC choice commercial in the UK.
i think he was also in Clockwork Orange and The Krays. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

huh - i don't remember her playing the drums - only Mary at her party . . . thanks for the article!! She didn't play drums. Mary played the drums as you state. Emmanuelle simply recounts in the interview that at some stage Prince taught her to play drums for the film. Either, Scott-Thomas ended up doing that for the film, or there was other footage shot but not included in the edit. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

BTW, I can't recall what the reference to reports about Christians being on the set is all about. It could well be some tabloid rumour started based on gossip or half-truth, when the press were desperate to print any story because interviews with Prince were so rare.
